BGL demands access to sanitary and rest areas for driving personnel
30. August 2022The Berlin-based GreenTech startup Swobbee and the Estonian sharing provider Bolt announce the start of their partnership. At the beginning of the cooperation, Bolt is testing Swobbee’s innovative charging and swapping solutions with its Berlin e-scooter sharing fleet as part of a pilot project. Later, the collaboration is expected to expand to other cities.
(Berlin) In Berlin, Bolt operates a large fleet of e-scooters. By using Swobbee stations, the micromobility provider no longer has to collect empty batteries with vans and transport them to a warehouse for charging and back, but can now handle the charging logistics with e-cargo bikes at decentralized Swobbee stations. There, empty batteries can be swapped for fully charged ones in just a few seconds. The battery swapping stations are located near Bolt’s e-scooter hotspots in Berlin. This significantly saves time and fuel, making the new charging concept an active contribution to improving traffic flow and air quality in Berlin.
Battery Swapping with E-Cargo Bikes Instead of Delivery Vans
Balthasar Scheder, Country Manager of Bolt Germany for the rental sector, says: “At Bolt, we are committed to helping create cities that are built for people, not cars. This also includes making our operations as environmentally friendly as possible. Through our partnership with Swobbee, we are able to utilize a decentralized network of charging stations where we can swap batteries with e-cargo bikes instead of vans, making our operations more efficient and sustainable. With scooters in 59 cities across Germany, we hope to expand the partnership to more cities in the coming months.”
Important Step Towards Decarbonization
Thomas Duscha, CEO of Swobbee, adds: “We are excited to announce our new partnership with Bolt, the largest European micromobility provider, with an initial pilot project in Berlin. This partnership is another important step towards decentralizing and decarbonizing micromobility operations, creating greener, more livable cities for everyone. We look forward to the results of the pilot project and hope to expand the partnership to other German and European cities in the future.”
