Designwerk Launches First Fully Electric Lowliner on the Road
1. September 2022Dematic announces a strategic partnership with Dexterity, a provider of warehouse robots. The robot systems, suitable for a variety of tasks, are intended to complement Dematic’s intelligent automation solutions. This is the next step in a highly promising collaboration, in which Dematic will sell and deploy Dexterity robots worldwide.
(Heusenstamm/Atlanta/Redwood City) The collaboration with Dematic is expected to facilitate Dexterity’s entry into the European and EMEA markets. Retailers and distributors worldwide are currently turning to automation to meet their most pressing business needs. The partnership between Dematic and Dexterity combines proven expertise in advanced supply chain solutions with high-quality robotic technology and will provide the market with fully integrated, autonomous, and scalable solutions – from specific subsystems to complete workflow solutions.
Dematic will deploy robotic systems that have already been contracted with Dexterity’s customers in the consumer goods industry, retail, and parcel services. In the coming years, Dexterity solutions will then be sold and deployed to Dematic’s own customers for warehousing, distribution, and order fulfillment.
Transforming Robotic Arms into Functional Robots
Dexterity’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for robotic intelligence transforms standard industrial robotic arms into fully functional robots with tactile sensing, vision, and the ability to learn and multitask. So-called full-task robots tackle some of the most challenging operational issues, such as building mixed SKU pallets, single-item sorting, retrofitting items, and fulfilling orders. To date, more than 37 million goods have been picked by Dexterity robots in warehouses across the USA, contributing to refined algorithms and advanced machine learning (ML). This has also enabled further efficiency gains in workflows, material flow, and system efficiency.
The concept of Dexterity’s robotic platform seamlessly integrates into Dematic’s system and software roadmap. Through this partnership, Dematic is able to offer its customers adaptable and autonomous solutions that increase the flexibility of stationary automation solutions and reduce reliance on manual workflows.
Building Trust in Robotic Solutions
The partnership will help strengthen customer confidence in robotic solutions. For supply chain challenges best addressed by the operational advantages of robotics, Dematic and Dexterity will work together to deliver and support modular solutions – from initiation and planning to execution and ongoing operations.
“Our growing partnership with Dexterity is another example of Dematic taking the necessary steps to continue being one of the software and technology leaders in the industry,” said Hasan Dandashly, President of Dematic and board member of the KION Group. “As one of the leading companies in the industry, we provide our customers with exactly the intelligent solutions they need for their success – fully integrated robotic solutions fit perfectly into that.”
Increased Demand for Flexible Automation
“Dexterity robots have increased market demand for flexible automation that can be integrated into existing workflows and infrastructures,” said Samir Menon, CEO of Dexterity. “The partnership with an industry leader like Dematic will accelerate the deployment of robots among Dexterity customers and significantly expand the global reach of Dexterity robots.”
“Dematic has been at the forefront of introducing new technologies for over 200 years. The supply chain of tomorrow requires holistically integrated robots that can see, touch, and decide. This helps our customers scale their operations like never before,” said Dean Priebe, Senior Director of the Robotics Center of Excellence at Dematic. “We are excited to welcome Dexterity into our partner portfolio to enhance our customers’ supply chains with this transformative and differentiated new technology.”
