Study “Concepts of Future Automotive Logistics” Published
6. September 2022In August of this year, CargoCast GmbH & Co. KG was founded. The company based in Paderborn supports businesses in the general cargo sector in efficiently managing their logistics processes. The foundation of the product portfolio is shipment forecasts for up to 15 working days, which are already being used in 30 general cargo depots.
(Paderborn) CargoCast offers its customers an assistant for planning warehouse, vehicle, and personnel capacities. Additionally, a central control tower is in the product pipeline, which will monitor the handling of general cargo shipments and highlight measures for production optimization. CargoCast is a spin-off of Cargo Digital World AG (CDW), which focuses on the development of digital logistics services.
General Cargo Transport is Highly Complex
Pascal Dietrich, together with Simon Leontaris, managing directors of CargoCast, describes the motivation behind founding the high-tech startup: “The transport of general cargo is a highly complex process with a number of influencing factors. That’s why we use artificial intelligence to improve production efficiency in times of scarce transport capacities.” Simon Leontaris adds: “Due to the pandemic and the increasingly emerging political and ecological crisis scenarios, volatility in supply chains is increasing. Our technologies detect changes and quickly adapt patterns. This enhances the value of our offering for our customers.”
AI Technology with High Precision
The AI technology predicts shipment flows and volumes with high precision. It calculates the development of volatile shipment flows and thus provides CargoCast’s customers with a preview for the deployment of available resources – whether drivers, warehouse staff, vehicles, or parking spaces. On the path to market maturity, the startup benefited from coaching by Cargo Digital World and the professional exchange with advisory board members Markus Schwope (Leopold Schäfer), Thomas Bauer (Honold International), and Thomas Peklo (Georg Graßl Spedition). The advisory board members are professional advisors to the team, enabling access to data and test partners, as well as supporting with business expertise.
Cutting Edge of Progress
“CargoCast is an absolute success story and an important strategic building block of Cargo Digital World,” emphasizes CDW board member Dr. Tim Brühn. “The developed solutions in the field of predictive analytics are not only at the cutting edge of technology but also excellently usable in practical everyday life. We support CargoCast in further implementing their excellent tools in practical applications.”
