CargoCast Predicts Shipment Flows in General Cargo Networks
6. September 2022The Düsseldorf branch of Rhenus Home Delivery moved to Hilden in August 2022. The total usable area of the new location is around 15,000 square meters. The new building was designed and constructed to the highest modern standards. Rhenus Home Delivery places particular emphasis on sustainability.
(Holzwickede/Hilden) The new branch of the Rhenus divisions in Hilden has received Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The location is powered by a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 750 kilovolt-amperes (kVA). At the start, ten charging points for electric cars and electric commercial vehicles are available for use. Thanks to a conduit concept and an additional transformer, the charging capacities can be further expanded in the future. The buildings are heated and cooled, among other methods, using heat pumps. A green facade on the east side and spacious terraces with green areas for employees complete the picture of a modern and sustainable new building.
The facility is called “Hildener Tor”
The Hilden branch, named “Hildener Tor” due to its location at the gates of Hilden, encompasses more than 12,000 square meters of storage and transshipment area, framed by three office complexes totaling approximately 3,000 square meters. The highly modern administrative complex will house the management and administration of Rhenus Special Delivery. Warehouse employees particularly benefit from the more efficient cross-docking areas with opposing sections for incoming and outgoing goods. The significantly higher number of 20 loading docks compared to the former location in Düsseldorf is particularly advantageous. “Especially compared to standard properties, we benefit from the many loading docks, which is an absolute gain given our high goods throughput,” explains Ronny Sassen, CEO of Rhenus Home Delivery.
Good transport connections
From Hilden, large parts of western North Rhine-Westphalia, the Rhineland, as well as parts of the Ruhr area and the Münsterland are supplied. The direct connection of the location to the A3 and A46 motorways provides an ideal foundation for this. The services offered by the branches include two-person handling delivery including assembly service, storage and transshipment logistics, as well as returns processing and smaller commission storage. The goods to be processed mainly consist of bulky products such as large electrical appliances, furniture, and e-bikes.
