Diversity? Yes, please! “Wirtschaftsmacher” thematic issue on diversity

In their current thematic issue “Diversity? Yes, please! How diverse is logistics,” the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher” illustrates the importance of diversity in Germany’s third-largest economic sector through concrete examples. It outlines ways to make collaboration and communication inclusive and contemporary, and actively utilize the diversity of employees for positive corporate development.

(Bremen) “The same lets us rest, but it is the contradiction that makes us productive,” already knew Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Indeed, increasingly diverse workforces not only present challenges to employers but also offer opportunities for social progress and economic value. Therefore, a modern corporate culture consciously relies on diversity today.

With their current thematic issue “Diversity? Yes, please! How diverse is logistics,” the initiative Wirtschaftsmacher provides a concise overview of the key dimensions of modern diversity management in the workplace and professional world, highlighting the potential of its targeted use. In a second step, the thematic issue offers an overview of the state of diversity in logistics and provides illustrative practical examples from companies such as Penny, pfenning logistics, REWE, Tchibo, and others.

Among other things, it addresses:

• A meaningful approach to age and life phase(s),
• ethnic and national diversity,
• diverse gender identities and sexual orientations,
• people with disabilities, and
• insights from generational research.

“In terms of lived diversity, numerous concrete examples can be identified in the economic sector, showing how diversity is positively embraced and lived in logistics,” explains Frauke Heistermann, spokesperson for the initiative Die Wirtschaftsmacher. “The illustrative examples in the thematic issue make it clear that diversity truly contributes to culture and business success here.”
