Acito Logistics Continues on Growth Path
12. September 2022On the nationwide “Day of Rail”, the Lübeck Port Railway invites young and old to take a look behind the scenes. The venue on September 16 and 17 is the wagon workshop of Nordic Rail Service (NRS), a subsidiary of the Lübeck Port Company (LHG). Among other things, heavy vehicles and equipment will be on display.
(Lübeck) Who can make sense of a V100, knows how the engine of a V60 works, or understands the “Köf”? Who is interested in trying their driving skills on a railway track using a simulator? If you feel addressed here, you will be well taken care of at the “Day of Rail” at NRS. Among other things, there will be a freight car viewed from an unusual perspective, namely from below, 2-way Unimogs, and a tamping machine. Locomotives from Deutsche Bahn (DB) are also expected.
“We want to promote our industry,” explains NRS railway operations manager Thomas Toschka. “In doing so, we hope to inspire especially the next generation. We are always looking for new trainees, but also experienced professionals who share our passion for railways.” Additionally, they want to demonstrate together with the Lübeck Port Authority (LPA) the significance of railways at this location for Lübeck and rail freight transport.
The NRS site can be found at Einsiedelstraße 6, in close proximity to the Gollan shipyard (shipyard quarter). Free parking is available. The NRS freight wagon workshop is also the disembarkation point for a ride with over 60-year-old passenger cars. The nostalgia trains organized by the LPA start at Lübeck Central Station and initially head to the Konstinkai. There, the Lübeck company Claus Rodenberg Waldkontor shows how it transships imported timber via ship and rail.
Subsequently, the train will head to the wagon workshop in the shipyard quarter. Food and drinks will be provided by sales vehicles with a grill and beverages. After a 40-minute stay, the train will return to the central station.
