Dachser Tests Electric Mobility at Three Locations
14. September 2022UTURN has opened a new office in Germany as of September 1st, with Paul Hugenholtz as Country Manager Germany. The container transport platform has seen an increase in German orders, which accelerated the planned opening in Hamburg. With the win of the Scaleup Landing Pad, an initiative of the federal government, UTURN is ready to officially launch and expand the platform in the German market.
(Rotterdam/Hamburg) UTURN is an online platform that has been organizing supply and demand for container transport capacity in and around the major ports of Europe since 2017. The physical expansion into Germany is the result of current growth in and around the ports of Bremen, Hamburg, and Duisburg. “The current market conditions also pose a significant challenge in Germany when it comes to finding capacity with shippers, which benefits the number of users and matches on UTURN,” says Niels Duijvestijn, CCO at UTURN.
Step into Germany was necessary
UTURN has an international network of thousands of shippers and container carriers who can collaborate seamlessly through the platform. In addition to bringing together supply and demand, the platform also handles all administrative and financial processing of container transports. “We have found that this full-service approach is very important for German shippers when deciding to start with UTURN,” explains Duijvestijn.
The UTURN platform takes care of everything for you, so you as a shipper and carrier do not have to arrange things yourself again. Here, many platforms in Germany only bring the parties together.
UTURN’s revenue model is based on completed transport orders. The shipper pays a fixed fee for each completed transport order, while the use of the platform is completely free for container carriers.
Gaining the trust of the federal government
The further expansion in Germany has not gone unnoticed by the federal government. Recently, the logistics platform “The Scaleup Landing Pad” won an initiative from the federal government that aims to assist young international scale-ups offering innovative solutions in mobility and logistics with their rollout in Germany and Europe. “We are very proud of this award and can rightly speak of a flying start. This is another confirmation of what we have achieved so far and the plans we have,” explains Niels Duijvestijn proudly.
Previously in sales in the Netherlands
Paul Hugenholtz has been appointed as Country Manager Germany to ensure that the launch of UTURN in Germany goes smoothly. Paul is originally German, has been working as a sales representative in the Netherlands for 2 years, and knows Hamburg, where he previously lived and worked for 9 months. “I look forward to making UTURN more known in Germany and exciting more shippers and carriers for UTURN,” said Paul Hugenholtz.
