Stakeholders Urge Implementation of the “Overall Concept Elbe”
18. September 2022Yusen Logistics (Germany) GmbH is expanding and has opened another location. Starting in summer 2022, the integrated logistics service provider will gradually move into the sustainable new building complex in Altbach, which offers around 10,000 square meters of warehouse and office space. The logistics center east of Stuttgart will be the new contract logistics location for Yusen Logistics.
(Düsseldorf) The new warehouse and distribution center is located near the federal highway B10, in a region that is continuously developing into an important logistics hub for light industry. Additionally, the Stuttgart area holds a leading position in Europe in the fields of automotive, electronics, information technology, and mechanical engineering. Many international large and small companies are based here. By moving into the modern building complex, Yusen Logistics is responding to the needs of its customers, most of whom come from the local automotive industry.
“Yusen Logistics Germany has grown significantly in recent years. The expansion of our contract logistics location in Altbach is important for us, as it allows us to grow sustainably together with our customers and is necessary to meet the increasing demand in the region and to be close to our customers,” says Ivan Spikic, Regional Manager Contract Logistics South Germany at Yusen Logistics.
As a global specialist in complete supply chain solutions, end-to-end transportation, as well as warehousing and distribution, Yusen Logistics offers its customers high-quality professional support in all logistical processes. At the logistics location in Altbach, the 3PL provider offers its customers land freight and parcel distribution, as well as outsourced pre-production work, including sorting, repacking into production boxes (KLT boxes), cleaning of transmission parts before delivery, and other picking tasks.
The site, with a significantly large storage area equipped with high racks, provides Yusen Logistics and its customers ample space with further expansion possibilities. The facility in Altbach combines state-of-the-art construction and technical standards with multifunctionality. Yusen Logistics’ loading halls feature truck access for side loading and unloading as well as ground-level access.
The new location of Yusen Logistics in Altbach is also intended to contribute to local economic development. On one hand, the logistics company is creating additional jobs in the region. The plan is to create 50 qualified positions covering commercial and industrial activities. 28 employees have already started their work at the new logistics center. Further positions will be filled gradually as office capacities expand. On the other hand, Yusen Logistics has relied on local resources for the warehouse and office equipment.
The new contract logistics location in Altbach is the eleventh branch of Yusen Logistics nationwide and the fourth in the southern region of Germany. Three other southern locations are in Alzenau, Bavaria, the center for distribution, domestic transport, and customs clearance; in Filderstadt near Stuttgart, where the air freight team operates; and in Schwaig near Munich, where Yusen Logistics handles air, sea, and land freight. The distribution center in Altbach is part of Yusen Logistics’ global contract logistics network, which consists of more than 355 warehouses and covers an area of 2,626,481 square meters.
