19. September 2022The Port Authority of Kehl and ETK Euro Terminal Kehl GmbH (ETK) have prematurely extended their cooperation agreement for container business until 2034. This sets the course for further growth in multimodal freight transport.
(Kehl) Since 2006, ETK and the Port Authority of Kehl have jointly operated the container terminal in the Rhine Port of Kehl on an area of approximately 30,000 square meters directly at Basin II. ETK is a joint venture of the Kehl forwarding company Klumpp+Müller and Haeger & Schmidt Logistics in Duisburg. The company offers customers a complete range of services related to container logistics, complemented by a shipping line service and rail connections to and from the seaports of Antwerp and Rotterdam.
The long-term extension of the collaboration aims to further strengthen the consolidation of container activities at the Rhine Port of Kehl. The number of twenty-foot units (TEU) handled by ship increased by 11 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year, reaching 33,856 TEU. When adding the containers handled by truck and rail, the Kehl terminal achieves a traffic performance of 149,663 TEU.
