Oct 27, 2022 at 7:39 PMWith the symbolic first groundbreaking, the construction work for the logistics center developed by Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH in Bodenheim, Rheinhessen, officially began today. The tenant of the property, which has a total area of 14,500 square meters, is atrikom fulfillment, a company specializing in e-commerce and promotional logistics as well as dialog marketing. The new building is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2023. Garbe Industrial Real Estate is investing around 23 million euros in the location.
(Hamburg/Bodenheim) “With today’s date, the course for a successful implementation of our joint project has been set,” emphasized Adrian Zellner, a member of the management board of Garbe Industrial Real Estate, on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony. The Hamburg project developer will realize a property with a hall area of approximately 12,100 square meters on the 23,500 square meter plot in the commercial area “Bürgel.” In addition, there will be 1,325 square meters for offices and social rooms. Another approximately 1,000 square meters of usable space is planned for intermediate floors (mezzanine).
The property will be equipped with ten loading bridges and two ground-level sectional doors for loading and unloading trucks. The outdoor area will have parking spaces for five trucks and 48 cars.
High-tech e-commerce warehouse
In the new building, atrikom fulfillment will operate a state-of-the-art e-commerce warehouse starting in the middle of next year. The company, headquartered in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg, specializes in e-commerce, promotional logistics, as well as dialog marketing and promotional campaigns. “With the commissioning of the logistics center in Bodenheim, we are expanding our location network and will supply our customers’ customers just in time from there,” explained Daniel Deckers, managing partner of atrikom fulfillment, regarding the significance of the new building for the company. It ships several million letters and more than two million packages per year.
The plot in Bodenheim is located just a few hundred meters from the B 9. It connects the location via the A60, A63, and A67 with Mainz, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, and other metropolitan areas in the Rhine-Main region.
Sustainability is also a focus in the realization of the property. A powerful photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof to generate renewable energy. The entire building will be equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting. The car parking spaces and bicycle shelters will be equipped with e-charging stations. The outdoor area will be extensively greened with trees and shrubs and is intended to provide retreat options with quality of stay.
Certification according to Gold Standard
For the new building, Garbe Industrial Real Estate aims for certification according to the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council. “The sustainable development of the property will benefit both the employees who will work in the logistics center in the future and the surrounding area,” is the conviction of local mayor Thomas Becker-Theilig.
