Gebrüder Weiss becomes a funding partner of the DAV in Bremen
6. November 2022TX Logistik AG (Mercitalia Group) will integrate the deep-water port Jade-Weser-Port Wilhelmshaven into its network. A new connection between Wilhelmshaven and southern Germany is planned to start in mid-January 2023 for hinterland traffic. The target destinations will be the rail terminals in Nuremberg and Kornwestheim. Additional terminals will follow in the first half of 2023.
(Troisdorf/Wilhelmshaven) With the new route, TX Logistik aims to provide customers with additional capacity for container transport by rail and to benefit from the projected volume growth at Jade-Weser-Port. Experts are confident that the handling will continue to increase next year when the container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, along with other members of the shipping consortium “The Alliance,” will start the first Far East service there. In April, the EU Commission approved Hapag-Lloyd’s participation in Jade-Weser-Port.
An important prerequisite for the new connection is that the railway line between Oldenburg and Wilhelmshaven has been expanded to double track and fully electrified. With the completion of all construction measures by the end of 2022, the nearly 70-kilometer-long route can now be traversed continuously by modern electric locomotives in 2023. This ensures efficient traction and significantly improves the accessibility of the logistics hub Jade-Weser-Port for freight trains.
Final detail planning is underway
Currently, TX Logistik is finalizing the last detail plans. At the same time, discussions are being held with potential users of the new route, which is to be offered as part of the production platform boxXpress.
