14. November 2022Stuart Sandlin succeeds Uffe Ostergaard as President Region North America of Hapag-Lloyd. Currently Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales for the United States, Stuart Sandlin will assume the position of President Region North America effective January 1, 2023. Sandlin follows Uffe Ostergaard, who will take on a leadership role outside of Hapag-Lloyd in the United States.
(Hamburg) Stuart Sandlin has a long career at Hapag-Lloyd. He joined the company in 2001 as a Sales Executive in Atlanta, Georgia, and has since held several leadership positions in the USA and Germany. In 2015, he left Hapag-Lloyd to become President North America at the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC). With the acquisition of UASC by Hapag-Lloyd in 2017, Stuart returned to the company and took on his current role as SVP Area United States.

With Stuart’s leadership experience and his comprehensive commercial understanding, we have a strong foundation for managing one of our most traditional key markets, as well as for further growth in North America,” said Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd.
Consolidation of US Activities
Uffe Ostergaard worked at Maersk for 20 years, serving as Group Head for Global Marketing from 1992 to 2012. He then moved to United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) in 2013, where he was Chief Commercial Officer until 2017. After the merger of Hapag-Lloyd and UASC, he was appointed President Region North America of Hapag-Lloyd on April 1, 2018.
