DEKRA points out ADR updates effective January 1, 2023
17. November 2022The Raben Group is expanding its location in Reichenberg, Lower Franconia, with a 27,000 square meter hall for contract logistics customers. From January 2023, 40,000 additional pallet spaces for goods from the consumer and automotive industries will be available. The European logistics service provider strengthens its portfolio of customized project services and value-added services with the new building.
(Mannheim/Reichenberg) The additional capacities complement the location, which previously consisted of a transshipment warehouse and a smaller hall for contract logistics customers. Raben combines services such as transport and storage with value-added services like assembly and packaging directly south of Würzburg at the highway intersections A7/A3 and A3/A81. Trade and automotive customers particularly benefit in Reichenberg from the high Raben standards in terms of quality and process reliability. “With the expansion, we are creating new and optimized opportunities for our existing and new customers to minimize logistical efforts, allowing for faster transport and delivery times,” says branch manager Christian Schüller.
The new contract logistics location in Reichenberg is one of the largest branches in the nationwide network of the owner-managed company. It has additional expansion possibilities and, alongside Dasing, Sarstedt, Mönchengladbach, and Fellbach, represents one of the four new anchor points in the large network of the Raben Group. The expansion addresses the growing customer demand for available and quite sophisticated logistics spaces as well as additional services. After almost two years of planning and construction, operational operations will begin as early as the beginning of next year.
24 Additional Jobs
The new hall has a height of 11.4 meters and is exclusively equipped with high shelves. 27 additional gates ensure efficient loading and unloading of goods. Raben is hiring around 24 new employees in both commercial and administrative areas. In the long term, the European logistics service provider aims to increase the workforce to around 160 employees. The logistics new building will be constructed according to the latest sustainability standards. Raben aims for certification according to the DGNB Gold Standard.
Shorter Lead Times in the Warehouse
“Since we offer all services, there are no unnecessary, time-consuming coordination processes. We can flexibly respond to customer requests and ensure efficient and secure handling of goods transshipment,” explains Schüller. Raben customers gain valuable minutes due to shorter lead times in the warehouse between order receipt and delivery, allowing the cut-off time to be pushed back and avoiding the loss of a delivery day. Shorter transport routes and demand-oriented, customer-specific logistics concepts also save time for customers and reduce the CO² emissions of the vehicles used.
