24. November 2022Lufthansa Cargo has added a new destination to its global B777F route network with Hanoi for the winter flight schedule 2022/2023. The first flight departed from Frankfurt on November 2nd. With a stop in Mumbai, the Boeing 777F arrived in Hanoi on schedule on November 3rd. Since then, Lufthansa Cargo has been flying to Hanoi twice a week. With the existing two weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh City, the cargo airline is doubling its capacity to Vietnam and uniquely connects the capital Hanoi with Frankfurt in the market.
(Frankfurt/Main) At Germany’s largest hub, customers have numerous additional connections by air and road feeder services within Europe and the extended global route network.
On the occasion of the station opening in Hanoi, representatives of Lufthansa Cargo management invited local media representatives and customers on-site today to celebrate the event as part of an exchange. Both Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in the country and economic center in the south, as well as the capital Hanoi in the north, have shown remarkable economic growth in recent years. As a production location, Vietnam has gained significant importance and records a high export volume, including to Europe. Accordingly, the demand for air freight transport is high. In particular, electronics, automotive parts, and clothing are among the most frequently flown goods from Hanoi. With additional main deck capacity to Europe, Lufthansa Cargo offers its customers attractive transport solutions with the freighter connections and supports the location of Hanoi in its further development as a cargo hub. The total of four weekly freighter flights to and from Vietnam results in a regular freight capacity of 250 tons per week.
Flights Operated by AeroLogic
All freighter connections to Vietnam are operated by AeroLogic using Boeing 777F aircraft. AeroLogic has been a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo since 2007. Lufthansa Cargo’s long-haul fleet consists of a total of 16 Boeing 777F aircraft. Five of these aircraft are chartered by AeroLogic. All flights operate under a Lufthansa flight number. Each aircraft has a freight capacity of up to 103 tons, distributed over 27 container positions on the main deck and ten standard pallets on the lower deck, and has a range of 9,045 km.
The Boeing 777F is one of the most modern and efficient freighters with the best environmental balance. Like the Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa Cargo aims to halve net CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 and achieve a neutral CO2 balance by 2050. As part of this, Lufthansa Cargo is investing in the renewal and optimization of its fleet and deploying it efficiently on routes – both fuel-saving and partially operated by sustainable aviation fuels instead of fossil kerosene.
To Ho Chi Minh City Since 2015
“With our freighter connection to Ho Chi Minh City, we have been closely connected to the Vietnamese market since 2015. With our station opening in Hanoi in the north of the country, strategically located along the economic corridor to North and Southeast Asia, we are ideally complementing our transport offerings for our customers with another direct connection to Frankfurt and thus also to the European and global markets we connect. Our route network is growing with frequencies and destinations to highly demanded routes, including to Hanoi, Seoul, or Hong Kong. We are pleased to expand our high-quality service offerings for our customers by connecting economies,” emphasizes Ashwin Bhat, Chief Commercial Officer at Lufthansa Cargo.
