5. December 2022More than 3.3 million people work in the logistics sector according to the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL). This makes it one of the largest employers in the country. Behind the statistics lie countless careers that demonstrate what cannot be gleaned from mere numbers: a career in logistics is exciting, varied, and full of opportunities for further education. The latest issue of the Economic Makers’ magazine “Career in Logistics” highlights examples of the various job opportunities that the economic sector offers.
(Frankfurt/Munich) What does a supply chain manager actually do? What job profiles exist in an inland port, and what does it mean to manage global supply chains? The thematic issue “Career in Logistics” from the Economic Makers addresses these and other questions. It is aimed at career starters in logistics and provides them with an overview of the diverse career paths in Germany’s third-largest economic sector.
It quickly becomes clear: there is no typical logistics job. Whether vocational training, studies, or lateral entry: in logistics, everyone can find a suitable path for themselves. And because the demands on logistics services are constantly changing, so too are the job profiles.
Exemplary short portraits provide an impression of the requirements some areas impose and also show how good the advancement opportunities in logistics are. With training “on the job” and a variety of further education options, logistics demonstrates that it is always in motion and responsive to the changing demands of employees. This also includes better compatibility of family and work as well as the goal of reflecting more diversity in the workforce.
