11. December 2022The Duisburg Intermodal Terminal (DIT) will offer a rail connection to the north starting in January 2023. The Duisburg-Wilhelmshaven shuttle will initially operate with a round trip weekly between the Duisburg Intermodal Terminal and Wilhelmshaven starting January 16, 2023. An increase in frequency to 2 round trips per week is planned for the second quarter.
(Duisburg/Wilhelmshaven) The first full train will depart from Wilhelmshaven on the evening of January 15, 2023, and arrive at the Duisburg Intermodal Terminal on the morning of January 16. The service can be booked immediately at the DIT Duisburg Intermodal Terminal.
“What is particularly interesting about this new rail product is the short transit time between the seaport of Wilhelmshaven and the DIT,” says Andreas Mager, Managing Director of Contargo Rail Services GmbH.
An advantage of the terminal in the largest inland port in Europe: The DIT offers gateway connections to and from Austria, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and containers can reach their destination via inland shipping or truck in the subsequent leg.
Another Seaport in the Network
“The JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven is playing an increasingly important role as a deep-water port in Europe. We are therefore very pleased to be able to offer our customers a new rail product starting in January and to expand our network with another seaport,” says Bernd Putens, Managing Director of DIT Duisburg Intermodal Terminal GmbH.
