15. December 2022
Swiss Post Acquires Kickbag GmbH
19. December 2022A common goal instead of a one-sided effort – The Rhenus Group and Shell will engage in closer collaboration to advance the decarbonization of road freight transport. Both companies are working on a joint strategy to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in the long term. The partners are connected not only by a long-standing business relationship but also by the ambition to become climate-neutral companies.
Central to this is the question of touchpoints between Rhenus and Shell that offer potential for more sustainable logistics. It concerns where Shell can provide CO2-neutral solutions as a supplier and where Rhenus can implement these sustainable transport strategies as a service provider. To jointly address the challenges of international supply chains, both companies are considering the full spectrum of decarbonization. Alternative fuels and drive types, from bio-LNG to hydrogen to e-mobility – such initial ideas and concrete measures were recently discussed by experts from both companies in a joint workshop.
Sustainability is one of the central corporate values of the Rhenus Group. The initial question is described by Carsten Hölzer, Managing Director at Rhenus Freight Road Sales & Management, as follows: “Should we expand the infrastructure or the fleet first? Thanks to our partnership with Shell, the question of who invests and bears the risk is no longer relevant. Together, we are developing a long-term strategy – and doing so much faster and more efficiently than alone.”
Sönke Kleymann, Managing Director of euroShell GmbH & Co. KG, emphasizes the relevance of the project: “We are pleased to further expand our collaboration with Rhenus – especially in the area of decarbonization. We already bring a wide range of alternatives through the Shell Card that can be implemented by our partners and customers. With Rhenus, we have found a partner with whom we already have a long-standing business relationship and who is ready to embark on the path of decarbonization with us. Together, we will set milestones for sustainable transport.”
