24. January 2023The Lübeck Port Company (LHG) welcomes the latest ferry from TT-Line at its facilities. The “Peter Pan” arrived on Monday evening after several weeks of maiden voyage from the shipyard in China, making stops in Lübeck, and has docked at the Scandinavia Quay in Travemünde. A tugboat greeted the new vessel with a proper fountain.
(Lübeck) The “Peter Pan” is classified as a Green Ship, belonging to a new generation of ferries. Like its sister ship “Nils Holgersson”, it features an environmentally friendly propulsion system using liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other “green” technologies. The state-of-the-art ship is 230 meters long and 31 meters wide, providing space for 4,000 loading meters and 800 passengers. Compared to its predecessor, the new vessel can transport significantly more cargo across the Baltic Sea.
Starting from mid-February, the ferry will commence its scheduled service between Lübeck and the Swedish Trelleborg. The “old Peter Pan” will also remain loyal to Lübeck, continuing to operate on its previous route as “Tinker Bell”. TT-Line offers up to four departures daily between the ports of Trelleborg and Travemünde. Additionally, the ships also call at the Lithuanian Klaipėda.
Ortwin Harms, Managing Director of LHG, is looking forward to the newest member of the shipping company’s fleet: “This is a positive start to the year for TT-Line and thus for us as well. The increased capacity between Trelleborg and Travemünde benefits the entire location. We wish the ship and its crew safe travels at all times!”
