Feb 7, 2023 at 3:10 PMDHL Two-Man Handling opened a new logistics location in Landsberg (Saxony-Anhalt) on February 1, 2023, to create additional handling capacities for large and bulky goods, such as furniture from major business customers in the region and Eastern Europe. Approximately 70 employees from the new cooperation partner Maintrans Solutions will process up to 7,000 packaging units (colli) per day on a property area of about 33,000 m² and a storage area of around 12,100 m² in two shifts and prepare them for delivery to end customers.
(Bonn/Landsberg) In addition to the central multi-customer location in Ludwigsau, Landsberg is the second hub of DHL Two-Man Handling, the subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL Group specializing in large and bulky goods in the Post & Parcel Germany business unit.
Beate Seeher, Managing Director of DHL Two-Man Handling GmbH, says: “In the last two years, we have seen a pleasing growth in the double-digit percentage range. More and more customers are ordering goods such as furniture, washing machines, or TVs online, and we expect this trend to continue. Our new logistics location in Landsberg, with its attractive location in the triangle of Halle (Saale), Leipzig, and Bitterfeld-Wolfen, will enable us to handle these additional volumes with faster turnaround times, thus forming the basis for further growth.”
Customer Solutions in Cross-Dock Area
Brenda Klee, a member of the management of Maintrans Group, looks positively at the collaboration: “E-commerce and online shipping are strategic growth markets for the Maintrans Group. We develop and implement customized customer solutions in the areas of cross-dock, sorting, and last-mile operations. We are very pleased that our cross-dock concept at the Landsberg location has convinced DHL Two-Man Handling GmbH, and we will implement the project together.”
DHL Two-Man Handling specializes in the transport and delivery of large and bulky goods and employs around 400 staff in Germany. From the central hub in Ludwigsau and now also from the additional location in Landsberg, over 30 regional DHL partner hubs are supplied daily with shipments across Germany. Delivery then takes place after prior telephone appointment notification to a delivery location specified by the end customer, including assembly if required.
Replacement of the Reichenbach Location in Thuringia
The new logistics location of DHL Two-Man Handling in Landsberg replaces the previous hub operated with Metro Logistics in Reichenbach (Thuringia) due to higher capacities and an even better location.
