Grieshaber Expands Offerings with a Logistics Property in Pulheim
10. February 2023Efficient and flexible – the Raben Group opened a new branch in Aichach, northwest of Augsburg, at the beginning of February. The new location, covering 25,000 square meters, is directly situated on the A8 and serves as an important anchor point in the European Raben network for daily connections to Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
(Mannheim/Aichach) These complement the permanent direct services and ensure a highly frequented supply to the Southeast European branches with tightly scheduled connections. “The lean and efficient process design enables a faster and more reliable supply chain. We are closer to the customer and are creating a more resilient network,” explains Raben Managing Director Ewald Raben. Customers from the automotive, consumer, and chemical industries benefit from a delivery time of less than 24 hours and 36 daily direct connections. By avoiding unnecessary empty kilometers, Raben anticipates a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.
Raben is present in 15 European countries with around 160 depots and 1.4 million square meters of storage capacity. More than 11,000 employees and a fleet of around 13,500 vehicles ensure that piece and group goods arrive at the right time and in the right quantity every day. In the new branch in Aichach, Raben distributes and commissions goods primarily for transport to the south and east of Europe on a handling area of 4,500 square meters.
Aichach will serve as a central logistics platform for Southeast Europe
The location at B 300 and A8 will serve as a central logistics platform. “This allows us to offer our industrial customers a demand-oriented and long-term resource planning, better respond to seasonal fluctuations, and significantly shorten delivery times,” explains Raben. The owner-managed company guarantees a delivery time of within 24 hours for all shipments to Austria, Italy, and the Czech Republic with a cut-off time of 9 PM. “We can still reach 50 percent of our branches in this region even if the goods are dropped off by 11:30 PM,” explains Raben. Most Austrian locations have a rail connection, allowing shipments to be transported more cost-effectively and sustainably in combined rail-road transport. Also new in the Raben network is the Czech location of Rokycany, through which Raben will take over daily direct connections to Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania in the future. For all European routes, Raben, as a full-service logistics provider, handles the distribution for all shipment sizes, regardless of the size and transport volume of the industrial customers. In addition to FCL (Full Container Load), LTL (Less than Container Load) can also be booked. The Raben Group organizes the complete supply chain as both an exporter and importer.
New branch built according to DGNB Gold Standard
The new branch is built according to the DGNB Gold Standard (German Sustainable Building Council). The building employs the latest forklift technologies with intelligent and optimized batteries to minimize power consumption, as well as LED lighting wherever permissible under safety regulations. The ramps at the 42 gates for loading and unloading are thermally insulated as best as possible. Furthermore, Raben relies on mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, with the required energy increasingly coming from renewable energy sources. Raben signed a corresponding contract for the supply of renewable energies back in 2021.
