Post Kicks Off Emission-Free Delivery in Innsbruck
16. February 2023The Schuon Group presents its financial figures for the fiscal year 2022. Despite inflation and the energy crisis, which have continuously challenged the international transport and logistics service provider, the growth trajectory of recent years has been maintained. Overall, the company group based in Haiterbach generated a revenue of around 92 million euros. Both the transport and contract logistics sectors have developed positively. Through the use of photovoltaic systems, the Schuon Group was able to save around 9,430 tons of CO2 emissions.
(Haiterbach) “The year 2022 was once again marked by many challenges. In addition to ongoing supply chain disruptions and material and capacity shortages, we were primarily confronted with massively rising costs, which we successfully managed,” says Alexander Schuon, Managing Director of Alfred Schuon GmbH. Despite all adversities, the Haiterbacher transport and logistics service provider achieved a 20 percent increase in annual revenue to 92 million euros compared to the previous year. “This achievement is, of course, thanks to our dedicated employees who give their best every day to ensure that we remain a reliable partner for high-quality transport and logistics services for our customers,” adds Schuon.
The strongest revenue-generating business segment last year was the transport and freight forwarding services for large-volume goods from insulation, packaging, and automotive manufacturers. With a total of 340 dispatched vehicles in operation, around 120,000 transport shipments were handled across Europe, covering more than 35,800,000 transport kilometers. “We reacted quickly to the challenges in the market to utilize our resources along the value chain as efficiently as possible. This allowed us to counteract the shortage of skilled workers with various recruitment measures,” explains Schuon.
In the contract logistics sector, the company group is also well-positioned with a managed logistics area of around 112,000 square meters in southern Germany, contributing nearly a quarter to total revenue in 2022. Particularly, battery logistics for the automotive industry plays a significant role here. “Batteries for electric and hybrid vehicles are becoming increasingly important due to the energy transition, which is why we are gradually expanding our foothold in this sector,” says Schuon.
Regarding sustainability, the logistics group has been pursuing its Green Logistics strategy for climate-friendly and energy-efficient logistics since 2006. The use of photovoltaic systems reduces a large part of the pollutant emissions from the vehicle fleet. As a result, around 9,430 tons of CO2 emissions were saved last year. Schuon is continuously working to reduce the company’s overall CO2 footprint. “In the long term, we want to expand our modern fleet, which consists 100 percent of low-emission EURO-6 and LNG trucks, to include vehicles with additional alternative drives,” says Schuon.
