Mar 4, 2023 at 3:18 PMThe Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) summarizes the developments in road freight transport for the year 2022 in the annual edition of the “Toll Traffic KOMPAKT” format, based on the truck toll mileage index, in a concise and clear manner. Despite economic downturns, the mileage is still 1.4% above the average of the years 2020 and 2021, although it has decreased by 0.7% compared to 2021.
(Köln) Largest share of mileage in Bavaria – About half of the mileage in 2022 is accounted for by the three federal states of Bavaria (19.8%), North Rhine-Westphalia (17.9%), and Lower Saxony (12.8%). Compared to the previous year, the majority of federal states show no or only marginal changes in the share of mileage.
Over 90% of mileage is provided by Euro 6 vehicles
Since 2013, the share of mileage provided by Euro 6 vehicles has been increasing in the federal territory and reached around 93% in 2022. Compared to 2021, this has increased by about four percentage points.
Share of mileage from domestic and foreign vehicles is balanced
The share of mileage from domestic and foreign vehicles is nearly identical in 2022. The share of mileage from foreign vehicles has increased by 0.6 percentage points compared to 2021, reaching 49.9%.
Largest decline in North Rhine-Westphalia
Mileage has developed differently across the federal states compared to the previous year. North Rhine-Westphalia shows the largest decrease in a federal state with -3.0%. Rhineland-Palatinate records the highest increase with 2.5%.
