March 2023GEODIS today announced the completion of the acquisition of trans-o-flex, which has taken place following approval by the regulatory authorities. trans-o-flex is a leading German network for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical goods and premium express deliveries. This acquisition will significantly expand GEODIS’s delivery capacities in Europe and establish it as one of the key players in the healthcare market.
Marie-Christine Lombard, Chief Executive Officer of GEODIS, said: “The acquisition of trans-o-flex, the largest temperature-controlled distribution network in Germany specializing in healthcare, accelerates our growth in a key market for GEODIS. We aim to empower trans-o-flex to solidify its market position in Germany and expand it into the largest European countries. This is part of our effort to further develop our global end-to-end logistics solutions to support the growth and geographical expansion of our customers.”
With this acquisition, GEODIS expands its portfolio to include a wide range of services for time-critical deliveries, providing a fast, reliable, and time-defined delivery service in Germany, one of its key market regions.
The addition of the existing Freight Forwarding and Contract Logistics activities with the trans-o-flex network will strengthen GEODIS’s position in Germany and, together with more than 3,400 employees, achieve a revenue of nearly 1.5 billion euros. By leveraging all the strengths and resources of trans-o-flex—including the strong brand and expertise of the existing management team—synergies will be created for both companies.
trans-o-flex will remain independent and operate under the leadership of Wolfgang P. Albeck as CEO. Marie-Christine Lombard will chair the supervisory board, with Christoph Schoeller as deputy chairman. trans-o-flex will be under the Europe region led by Thomas Kraus. To ensure commercial synergies, Wolfgang P. Albeck will be included in the board of the Europe region of GEODIS.
Christoph Schoeller, deputy chairman of trans-o-flex, said: “We are pleased that trans-o-flex can now enter a new phase of international growth. To ensure continuity, the entire management of trans-o-flex will remain in office. Together, we will continue to work on the success story of the group.”
Founded in 1971, the express service has established specialized logistics solutions for cosmetics, consumer electronics, and other sensitive goods, with a focus on Germany. Here and in Austria, the company employs around 2,000 people at 77 network and warehouse locations. In both Austria and Germany, the company has built its own comprehensive network for actively temperature-controlled pharmaceutical transports of 2 to 8 °C and 15 to 25 °C.
