23. March 2023The Cognex Corporation introduces the In-Sight 2800 Detector for logistics. This object detection system is based on Cognex’s In-Sight platform and utilizes AI-based edge learning technology to automate sorting processes and improve the accuracy of logistics inspections.
(Natick, USA) “The In-Sight 2800 Detector represents a breakthrough in logistics innovation,” said Shweta Kabadi, Cognex Vice President, Solutions. “Edge learning-based inspections reduce costs, increase throughput, make AI accessible to facilities of all sizes, and ultimately pave the way for more efficient logistics automation.”
Cognex’s new object detection system is suitable for demanding object detection applications, such as verifying whether an item is present on sorting systems, in containers, or trays, classifying package types, and identifying process issues such as jams on the conveyor belt. The integrated edge learning technology even detects items against noisy or low-contrast backgrounds.
Setting up the In-Sight 2800 Detector takes less than 15 minutes. With edge learning technology, training occurs directly on the device and requires only a small number of images, without the need for an expert. Logistics facilities can quickly take advantage of this technology and avoid costly downtime.
“With the In-Sight 2800 Detector, we were able to immediately recognize products that other solutions could not detect,” said Dave Bodenheimer, VP of Research and Product Development at SDI Industries Inc, a Cognex customer. “Our customers were very satisfied with the results. The In-Sight 2800 Detector is a key factor in detecting presence and absence, identifying process issues, and easy classification.”
