Mar 31, 2023 at 8:57 PMAshwin Bhat is set to be appointed as the new CEO of Lufthansa Cargo. Subject to the pending resolution by the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Cargo, he will assume his new position on April 15, 2023. In his new role, he will continue to be responsible for the areas of product and sales.
(Frankfurt) Dr. Michael Niggemann, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Cargo, says:
„I am very pleased that with Ashwin Bhat, a highly experienced manager and internationally seasoned logistics and cargo expert, will take on this responsible role. He has significantly contributed as a board member to Lufthansa Cargo achieving its historically most successful years. As CEO, he will further develop the company and expand its strong market positioning.”
Lufthansa Cargo will continue to be led by a three-member executive board. The appointment of the third board member, along with a new distribution of responsibilities, will take place as soon as possible.
Expert in the air freight industry
Ashwin Bhat, born in 1969, studied chemistry at the University of Mumbai, India. Bhat began his professional career at Airline Financial Support Services in India. In 1999, he joined the then Swisscargo and held various leadership positions, including in Revenue Management, Transport Management, and Global Area Management. Since 2015, Bhat has led the Cargo business unit at Swiss International Air Lines. In 2021, he was appointed as CCO to the board of Lufthansa Cargo.
