Rail-Flow secures an additional €3.6 million in investment capital
10. May 2023The new property of GROUP7 near Munich Airport covers an area of 10 hectares. The logistics service provider is thus poised to expand its headquarters, shortly after the commissioning of the logistics center in Hamburg. “Our old headquarters is bursting at the seams: This affects both the logistics capacities and the office spaces for our forwarding departments and administration. Therefore, we are very grateful that we were able to find a suitable plot just a stone’s throw away from our current headquarters in Schwaig/Oberding,” describes Günther Jocher, CEO and owner of GROUP7, the reason for the new building.
(Munich) The planned expansion will live up to its name. The impressive logistics area of 60,000 m² is approximately twice the size of the previous multi-user center of GROUP7 at Munich Airport. After commissioning, GROUP7 will have a total of 360,000 square meters of logistics space in Germany. The areas are distributed across locations in Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Bremen, Nuremberg, Hanover, Düsseldorf, and Neuss near Düsseldorf. At all locations, GROUP7 employees also organize transport by air freight, sea freight, and land transport.
48 Million Euro Investment
The investment sum for the 60,000 m² service center and the 5,000 m² administrative building amounts to 48 million euros. However, the path to this was not easy: “Thanks to the tireless collaboration of the planners, architects, the municipality of Oberding, the responsible authorities, and GROUP7, the development plan was realized within a record time of just one year,” explains Jocher.
Campus Design for the New Headquarters
The 5,000 m² office will be built in a campus-style design. Green spaces, break rooms, lounges, and a networking area will invite future visitors to exchange ideas and work creatively alongside modern office spaces. “I want everyone to feel comfortable on the GROUP7 campus and have fun at work. Our comprehensive logistics and forwarding services require our employees to be creative and solution-oriented every day,” Jocher concludes. The planned expansion will create approximately 210 new jobs for the region.
