TIMOCOM presents partner solutions at the trade fair
10. May 2023Rail-Flow, the leading platform provider for rail freight and intermodal transport, has gained new investors to expand its business activities. In the latest financing round, the company founded in 2020 raised a total of €3.6 million from existing investors and new backers.
(Frankfurt) Dominik Fürste, CEO and co-founder of Rail-Flow, said during the notarization of the capital increase on Friday, May 5, 2023, in Berlin: “Rail-Flow has developed rapidly since its founding. Our solutions have proven in customer use that they can make a significant contribution to advancing digitalization in the transport business and simplifying collaboration across transport modes of road and rail. In this way, we help to shift more goods from road to rail.”
Investors hold Rail-Flow’s future potential in high regard.
Investors include industry experts such as:
- the venture capital funds Rethink Ventures and Futury Capital
- Katrin Suder, investor, senior advisor, and supervisory board member
- Alexander Hedderich, former CEO of DB Schenker Rail and chairman of the Rail-Flow Advisory Board
- Dr. Jürgen Ringbeck, serial investor and honorary professor at WHU (Otto Beisheim School of Management)
With the new financing round, the neutral and independent platform provider reaches another milestone and gets one step closer to its vision: Rail-Flow founders Dominik Fürste and Osman Akdemir aim to shift more freight transport from road to rail and to digitize rail freight transport itself. This is made possible through various modules within the Rail-Flow platform, which digitize and streamline processes from quote creation to real-time tracking to invoicing. The platform offering thus simplifies the handling of rail freight and multimodal transport. The Purchase & Tender Management platform was launched in 2020 as the first solution in the market and is a marketplace for conventional rail freight transport.
In particular, Rail-Flow sees a need for improvement here, which it addresses with its Rail Offer and Rail Transport Management modules. The interplay between the marketplace solutions and the operational SaaS solutions is a particularly innovative strength of the platform. By replacing phone, fax, Excel, and email, Rail-Flow reliably simplifies, accelerates, and documents processes.
Simpler processes and climate-friendly transport routes
Thanks to the “Intermodal Capacity Brokers,” capacities on freight trains can be offered and booked easily. Therefore, the offering is also interesting for smaller transport companies and freight forwarders, facilitating entry into combined transport.
When goods are transported by rail instead of by road, 9 times fewer emissions are produced and 6 times less energy is consumed. Rail-Flow’s goal is to create an impetus for more climate-friendly freight transport by connecting and networking carriers, rail freight companies, and shippers. “Since our founding, we have convinced numerous market participants such as logistics service providers and shippers, as well as providers of rail freight transport, of our platform and achieved an easing of their business processes in rail freight transport,” emphasizes Dominik Fürste. “Thanks to the trust of our investors, we can now further expand our services and pursue our European growth strategy.”
