16. May 2023Four days of the trade fair, full halls, exhibitors and visitors from all over the world, and a dynamic industry continuing to thrive: From May 9 to 12, 2023, the transport logistic and the integrated air cargo Europe once again became the center of the logistics industry. A total of 2,320 exhibitors from 67 countries (2019: 2,374 exhibitors from 63 countries) and more than 75,000 visitors from over 120 countries (2019: 63,893 visitors from 125 countries) attended the International Trade Fair for Logistics, Mobility, IT, and Supply Chain Management at the exhibition grounds in Munich. The share of international visitors was over 50 percent, the highest ever.
(Munich) For the two managing directors of Messe München, Stefan Rummel and Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, the transport logistic clearly demonstrated that “the industry is setting strong impulses in challenging times. There is a desire to make a difference, to move things forward, and to tackle current issues together. What we have seen and experienced here over the last four days in terms of technologies and ideas is truly remarkable. In short: Nothing works without logistics.” The Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Dr. Volker Wissing, was also impressed at the opening of the transport logistic: “What you see here once again shows: The transport and logistics industry is at the forefront when it comes to innovations, progress, and modern technologies. And what is particularly evident at this fair: The climate goals are not just nice words for them; they take them very seriously. This can be seen at every corner, at every booth.”
Sustainability as one of the top topics
Tobias Jerschke, Chairman of the Executive Board at Kühne+Nagel, fully agreed with the minister’s assessment: “The transport logistic remains the most important leading trade fair for us worldwide. What I particularly liked this year is that the topic of sustainability has run like a common thread throughout the fair. This is a strong signal for the entire industry and will help us to focus even more on this important topic.” Alessandro Cacciola, CEO of the Andreas Schmid Group, adds: “Messe München consistently manages to perfectly reflect the current trends and developments in the industry. This year, I particularly perceive the topic of sustainability as being more prominent and positive. Thus, the transport logistic is a place where the future of logistics is actively shaped.”
75,000 visitors from 120 countries flocked to the halls of Messe München during the transport logistic
Highest international exhibitor share ever
With a total of 127,000 square meters of exhibition space (2019: 125,000 square meters), the ten halls and the outdoor rail area were completely booked. Of the 2,320 exhibitors, 1,390 came from abroad – a record share of 60 percent. The top ten exhibitor countries after Germany were the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France, Austria, China, Turkey, Spain, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
transport logistic experiences a “remarkable comeback”
The numbers speak for themselves: The industry has been eagerly anticipating the transport logistic for four years, as Achim Martinka, Vice President at Lufthansa Cargo, confirms: “We have been waiting a long time for this event, and we had a lot of fun participating in this year’s transport logistic in Munich. We had busy but inspiring days in Munich with many encounters and impressions.” Burkhard Eling, CEO of DACHSER, summarizes: “The transport logistic has experienced a remarkable comeback as a meeting point and communication platform and has confirmed its status as the world’s leading trade fair for logistics. Thematically, the fair was also in tune with the times, focusing on digitalization, climate protection, global supply chains, and people in logistics. In short: The transport logistic is a fair that a company like DACHSER simply cannot miss.”
