Elsen and Catholic Hospital Koblenz Present Their Project
29. May 2023Cloudflight, one of the leading full-service providers in the field of industrial digital transformation, and LTW Intralogistics, a complete provider in the intralogistics sector, have jointly developed an innovative graphical user interface for intralogistics systems. With the “LTW LIOS Cockpit,” a modular system has emerged that takes usability to the next level.
(Munich/Wolfurt) Intralogistics systems are highly complex and require coordination and alignment of various technical disciplines such as mechanics, sensors, and actuators. In addition, there are data streams related to moving goods (material flow systems, MFS), warehouse management (Warehouse Management System, WMS), and further information from logistics providers and their service providers. Often, operating these user interfaces requires an elaborate training program and can pose risks due to user errors by employees. To ensure smooth operations, LTW Intralogistics aimed to develop a highly intuitive user interface that allows for easy and efficient operation. Thanks to Cloudflight’s many years of process and development experience in the field of industrial digital transformation, these requirements could be implemented together.
Browser-Based Application
The LTW LIOS Cockpit is a browser-based application that fully visualizes intralogistics systems and enables monitoring and control of the trades within the system. By being designed as a web application, employees can access the system from anywhere and monitor the control of the system and the orders. Thanks to the visualization, all relevant data of the system down to the PLC level (programmable logic controller) is always visible, and disruptions can be immediately identified and located.
Bernhard Peter, Managing Director at LTW Intralogistics, says: “The collaboration with Cloudflight is a real enrichment. The combination of technology transfer, the ability to bring technological know-how into the system, and the cross-industry experience from other software projects has been a huge advantage for us. Moreover, we appreciate the forward-looking perspective and the collaborative approach.”
Software Integration Often Falls Short
Johannes Matiasch, Project Lead at Cloudflight, adds: “For years, we have seen the increasing digitalization in the hardware sector. However, what often falls short is a good user experience and the integration capability of software solutions. If both are not given, the efficiency gains in the execution of daily operations dissipate, as customers and their service providers cannot optimally integrate the solutions or struggle with the handling of the software solutions. LTW Intralogistics has acted consistently and correctly here, incorporating customer feedback directly into the development. Together, we have developed an intuitive and highly efficient software that sets new standards in intralogistics.”
