HHLA and ABB Collaborate on Container Crane Systems
11. June 2023The pharmaceutical logistics network GDP network solutions is aware of its responsibility and relies on various measures to operate resource-efficiently and environmentally friendly, as well as fairly and transparently towards customers, suppliers, and employees.
(Biebesheim) The company Med-X-Press is one of the shareholders of GDP network solutions and presents its commitment to the environment as one of the pillars of its sustainable business practices in a sustainability report. In particular, the technical equipment and the buildings of the operational sites represent a decisive factor on the path to the company’s climate neutrality. For example, a combined heat and power plant is used to cover a large part of the energy consumption at one location through the principle of combined heat and power. Further energy-saving measures are implemented through centrally controlled building technology and the replacement of conventional lighting with LED lighting. The company’s photovoltaic systems and battery capacities are also being expanded with the goal of becoming independent from external suppliers. Additionally, all company vehicles are to be replaced with electric and hybrid vehicles that can be powered by the company’s own electricity. Particularly sustainable is the new BTM warehouse with temperature control via heat pump, optimal insulation, and green roof area. Med-X-Press also places great importance on aspects such as waste separation, waste reduction, and construction material recycling. For its commitment, the company was recently awarded the Bronze Medal by Ecovadis.
Part of the corporate philosophy
At the shareholder Engemann u. Co., sustainable working is also an integral part of the corporate philosophy and includes, among other things, environmental aspects, such as reducing emissions caused by transport and handling or avoiding accidents and leaks. Proper waste separation and disposal, as well as the efficient use of water, gas, electricity, and other resources, are important components of the environmental guidelines or environmental management according to ISO 14001:2015.
Through the expansion of intermodal transport and the use of alternative drives, CO2 emissions in the area of transport and company cars at Engemann u. Co. have already been significantly reduced.
In addition, the company acquired a tractor unit with LNG technology in 2020, which emits up to 99 percent less fine dust and soot particles, 37 percent less nitrogen oxides, and 30 percent less CO2 than comparable diesel trucks. Furthermore, the use of a new electric tractor unit is planned for June 2023.
