21. June 2023From the tongue twister Deutsche Post DHL Group, it is now simply the DHL Group. This will especially please those outside the German-speaking region, who have likely struggled with the pronunciation of the company name. It is actually a logical step. The individual brand names will remain intact.
(Bonn) The world’s leading logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group announced today that it will change its corporate name to “DHL Group” effective July 1, 2023. The new name reflects the transformation the group has undergone in recent years and acknowledges the focus on national and international logistics activities as a driver for future growth.
“In the last ten years, the megatrends of globalization, e-commerce, digitalization, and sustainability have positively impacted our business and will continue to do so. They have opened up new growth opportunities for us in many areas,” says CEO Tobias Meyer. “Today, we are one of the most international companies in the world. The name DHL Group and the use of the DHL logo for the corporation reflect the evolution of our business activities, which outside of Germany primarily use the DHL brand, which is also gaining importance domestically.”
Already, over 90% of the group’s revenue comes from businesses operating under the DHL brand, including the DHL parcel business in Germany.
The strong brands Deutsche Post and DHL remain unchanged
The brands Deutsche Post and DHL will continue to be used in Germany as before. “We are very proud of the tradition of Deutsche Post, its rich heritage, and its history dating back to the 15th century,” says Tobias Meyer. “We value the Deutsche Post brand and will continue to use it in joint branding with DHL. We remain ‘The Post for Germany’.
The DHL business units will continue to operate under their existing names with one exception: The group will also unify and simplify the name of the DHL eCommerce Solutions business unit effective July 1, whose operational units in some countries also operate under “DHL Parcel”. In the future, the business unit will uniformly use DHL eCommerce as its name.
This renaming will not affect the service offerings of the business units: The group will continue to offer a wide range of e-commerce-related logistics services across all business areas and will continue to invest in them – such as inbound logistics, fulfillment, as well as express, parcel, and return services.
Stock symbol changes to DHL
The new corporate name has no impact on the name of the publicly traded parent company, which will continue to be called Deutsche Post AG. The stock symbol, currently ‘DPW’, will be changed to ‘DHL’ to better position the company’s global portfolio in the financial markets and to leverage the strong recognition of the DHL brand there as well.
The change of the corporate name has no impact on the names or characteristics of the legal entities of the group, particularly Deutsche Post AG, or on the internal and external relationships with these entities.
Communication of the new name starting July 1, 2023
The group will use the name DHL Group in communication and presentation internally and externally starting July 1, 2023. The rebranding of some physical assets will occur over time to avoid additional costs.
