The LAST MILE CITY LOGISTICS in Berlin impressed with quality

4. July 2023The logistics company Logiline GmbH now enables the compensation of the CO2 emissions generated. Reducing CO2 emissions is considered an important challenge on the path to minimizing the temperature rise on our planet. Given the current state of transportation infrastructure, complete elimination of CO2 emissions during freight transport is still not possible.
(Langenhagen) The only way to make this transport CO2-neutral is to invest in a climate-positive compensation project. A prerequisite for compensation – or even overcompensation – is a detailed understanding of the CO2 emissions generated during transport. An analysis to determine the relevant metrics is, however, extremely complex. Questions that need to be answered in detail include: What is the size and weight of the freight? Is it being transported by bicycle courier, by sea container, or by airplane? Is it a “groupage transport” or a direct shipment? All these factors influence the CO2 footprint of the individual freight item.
To determine the emission volume for each freight item, Logiline collaborates with a Swiss company that specializes in this topic. Already at the order capture stage, the relevant data is evaluated and the resulting CO2 amount is calculated. This way, customers can select CO2 compensation as an additional service when placing their transport order. Typically, only minor costs are incurred, which collectively contribute significantly to reducing CO2 emissions.
The contribution to compensation costs is optional. Alternatively, Logiline provides a list of CO2 emissions incurred over a specific period. This allows companies that already support compensation projects to demonstrate that the transports they commissioned were carried out CO2-neutrally.
Better Compensation than Nothing at All
Even though there have been increasing discussions about climate certificates (compensation projects) in recent times, Logiline is convinced that it is necessary to act now.
