Euroexpo, the Munich-based organizer of the intralogistics trade fair LogiMAT in Stuttgart, quietly says thank you and goodbye: After 20 years, Managing Director Peter Kazander is taking the first step into retirement on June 30, 2023. But it is a gradual farewell. Kazander remains Managing Director of LEG and oversees LogiMAT China and is responsible for the success of the second LogiMAT | Intelligent Warehouse fair in Bangkok, Thailand.
(MUNICH) At the age of 67, Peter Kazander, Managing Director of Euroexpo Messe- und Kongress-GmbH, is bidding farewell to retirement at mid-year. In 2003, the native Dutchman joined Euroexpo, a company of the HUSS Group, as Event Manager. Under his leadership, LogiMAT evolved from a small fair on Stuttgart’s Killesberg to the most important international intralogistics fair in the world over the course of 20 years. Today, LogiMAT fills all ten halls of the new Stuttgart exhibition center every year with exhibitors focused on internal logistics and attracts over 60,000 trade visitors from around the globe who want to stay updated on products, trends, and solutions related to material flow in warehouses and production and conduct business. Since 2015, Kazander has been Managing Director of Euroexpo and, since 2013, also Managing Director of the subsidiary Logistics Exhibitions GmbH (LEG), to continuously develop and expand the international fairs of LogiMAT in China and Thailand.
Champion of Intralogistics Fairs
“He has made LogiMAT a champion of intralogistics fairs worldwide with his team and an indispensable part of the logistics industry’s calendar,” praises Christoph Huss, Managing Partner of Euroexpo, the outgoing trade fair director. Thanks to Kazander’s efforts in establishing the digital event platform LogiMAT.digital, LogiMAT survived the critical Corona years even without a physical fair. “He was always ready to explore new paths,” recalls Huss about their collaboration.
With gratitude and pride, Kazander also looks back on his successful trade fair team. “The foundation of our success has always been good teamwork in the turbulent trade fair business. With this small but highly motivated and dedicated team, we have been able to achieve a lot with LogiMAT, which will always connect us,” Kazander promises his employees.
Passing the Baton to Michael Ruchty
Continuity of success is ensured. With LogiMAT 2023, the most successful fair since its inception, Kazander handed over his last tasks to Michael Ruchty, who was already responsible as Event Manager for LogiMAT in Stuttgart. “I have learned a lot from Peter Kazander in recent years. Now it is time for me to manage LogiMAT in Stuttgart on my own and to fill his shoes well,” comments Ruchty on his predecessor’s retirement.
