Leroy Merlin is satisfied with TGW’s Lifetime Services
3. August 2023The logistics company DSV has understood the need and recently organized a whole festival for its employees. In the tense job market, companies must increasingly find creative ways to retain employees and become visible as employers. When a vibrant festival took place on three stages at the Zeche Ewald in North Rhine-Westphalia last June, it was not a typical event, but rather the employee celebration of the international logistics company DSV.
(Bremen/Zeche Ewald) “We wanted to create an absolute highlight for our team that fits DSV – young, dynamic, cool, and of course, extraordinary. With the Zeche Ewald, we found a great location and were able to celebrate wonderfully against the fantastic industrial backdrop,” summarizes Peter Fog-Petersen, Managing Director of DSV Road.
DSV has thousands of employees across Germany. Many of them joined during the pandemic, and personal encounters were initially not possible. Against this backdrop, the DSV management wanted to say “thank you” to their employees by allowing them to finally come together and celebrate. With headliners like Moonbootica and Flo Mega, the program took place on three stages from the afternoon until deep into the night. Over 1,000 colleagues from all over Germany celebrated joyfully together. Afterwards, they camped together on the Halde Hoheward above the Zeche.
Creative Ways to Find New Employees
On one hand, the festival is a sign of appreciation and gratitude. On the other hand, it also serves to make DSV more visible in the job market. The aim is to primarily attract young people and show that DSV offers more to its employees. “We are a young, dynamic company. And we want to convey that both externally and internally. The logistics industry is characterized by a shortage of skilled workers. This will intensify in the coming years, and we want to boldly move forward, positioning ourselves at the top of the industry for employee retention and recruitment,” says Nicolai Knudsen, Managing Director of Finance.
The Zeche Ewald had a true festival atmosphere
When it comes to recruiting new employees, the market is highly competitive, and employers must become visible and more attractive to stand out against the competition. This is achieved not only through good marketing but also through that certain extra: “It takes a lot of courage to organize a whole festival for employees – but we have that. It was a successful event and a highlight for our DSV team,” says Frank Sobotka, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea, “We hope that we were able to show that DSV goes the extra mile for its employees and that it is worth working here.”
Industry Marketing – Logistics Gains Importance
It is also advantageous that logistics, after having little traction for a long time, is currently on the rise. Sobotka continues: “We see that the importance of international trade flows is increasingly coming into focus, not least due to the pandemic and wars. Logistics as an industry is being recognized. We need to leverage this momentum to become visible as an employer in broader society.”
