Rhenus Expands Area for Automobile Handling in Cuxhaven
22. August 2023Schmitz Cargobull and RIO are jointly advancing the digital communication of trailers and tractors. The collaboration with RIO enables both the forwarding of Schmitz Cargobull trailer data to the RIO portal and the import of truck telematics data via the connection to the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® Data Management Center.
(Horstmar/Munich) “Our partnership allows transport companies to access a comprehensive set of truck and trailer data in real-time and in one place. This makes it easier for dispatchers to schedule routes and for fleet managers to coordinate service stays better,” says Matthias Cordes, Head of Product Management Telematics.
The integration provides a clear, detailed overview of important truck and trailer data on one platform without the need for additional hardware installation. RIO truck and Schmitz Cargobull trailer data is displayed in real-time, along with a comprehensive fleet and map overview.
“The interface from RIO to Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® is one of many important steps to further simplify logistics processes. This brings us closer to a unified and clear ecosystem for freight forwarders and gradually dismantles the data silos of the past,” says Jan Kaumanns, CEO of RIO.
At a glance, fleet managers can view the telematics data of trucks and trailers in one place in the TrailerConnect® portal. This aids in dispatching, route optimization, schedule management, and improving overall fleet efficiency while reducing operating costs. Combined telematics data offers advantages in the maintenance management of trucks and trailers. Real-time maintenance alerts assist in planning repair and maintenance work, helping to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
Driving Digital Transformation Forward
Since 2018, Schmitz Cargobull has been equipping all semi-trailers and curtain-sided trailers as standard with the TrailerConnect® telematics system under the motto 100% SMART. With the availability of trailer telematics data, Schmitz Cargobull is further driving the digital transformation of the industry and creating a broad basis for the optimal management of a connected and integrated logistics chain for greater efficiency and lower total cost of ownership (TCO). If a customer uses a so-called third-party system, there is the option to securely transmit data to third-party systems, such as Transport Management Systems (TMS) or Real-Time Visibility Platforms (RTVP), via the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center (DMC), which is integrated into the TrailerConnect® portal. The number of partners utilizing the interface connection through the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center is steadily increasing.
