Swobbee Provides Charging for Cargo Bikes in Munich
14. September 2023DPD Germany and the Berlin-based LogTech company InstaFreight are entering into a strategic partnership effective immediately. The goal of the successfully piloted cooperation is to further digitize and optimize the procurement and management of additional capacities in the DPD full-load network. By utilizing the InstaFreight platform, the transport process at DPD becomes more transparent and efficient. Customers of the company can thus access transport capacities faster and more flexibly than before.
(Aschaffenburg/Berlin) The InstaFreight platform consolidates cargo space from over 25,000 qualified carriers. In the partnership with DPD, InstaFreight acts as a cost-neutral Fourth Party Logistics Provider (4PL). The company provides DPD with its platform and operational expertise for the procurement and management of additional transports in the full-load network. In a pilot project lasting about a year in Northern Germany, DPD was able to multiply its carrier base with InstaFreight. The result: the reliability and flexibility of the DPD network increased. When searching for cargo space, the best offer for the desired route is now selected, and the transport order is directly assigned to the respective carrier via the platform. During the pilot phase alone, several thousand full-load transports were assigned in this way. Meanwhile, all national and European additional transports by DPD are orchestrated through the platform.
InstaFreight is the leading digital logistics company for land transport in Europe, operating as a 3PL (freight forwarder) on a platform and also as a cost-neutral 4PL provider with its transport management. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Berlin, the company conducts several thousand full, partial, and piece goods transports weekly. InstaFreight’s business model provides shippers access to cargo space that would otherwise be unavailable to them to this extent. The technology of InstaFreight digitizes and automates the handling of transports, generating efficiency and transparency advantages in the transport process.
Not only the noticeable cost reduction is the decisive criterion. InstaFreight and DPD have jointly digitized the process steps related to partner management. The digital coordination of the carriers also simplifies daily workflows and supports resource-saving road freight transport by avoiding empty runs.
“After the successful pilot phase and the nationwide rollout, we look forward to a long-term collaboration with InstaFreight. This allows us to handle our procurement and provision of additional capacities even faster, more transparently, and more efficiently in these challenging global economic times,” explains Simon Nissen, Director Network Planning & Optimization at DPD.
An Important Anchor Customer
“Being able to offer a multitude of advantages to an experienced organization like DPD in the procurement and management of transport capacities fills us with pride. DPD Germany is an important anchor customer for us, with whom we have developed and piloted our solution for spot full loads together over the past twelve months. This cost-neutral 4PL solution will also be available to other shippers in the future,” says Maximilian Schaefer, Managing Director and Co-Founder of InstaFreight.
