Newport Logistics Fund Invests in Panattoni Park Ennshafen
31. October 2023ID Logistics and Enpal celebrate the official opening of the Central Logistics Hub for Regenerative Complete Systems in Philippsburg. Guests included representatives from politics and the community, customers, as well as small and large citizens of the city of Philippsburg and local residents. They were able to get a personal impression of the extensive contract services in the sustainably constructed buildings completed in 2023 through short presentations, a company film, good conversations in a pleasant atmosphere, and a tour of the buildings.
(Cavaillon/Philippsburg) With over 50,000 customers in Germany and several thousand new solar systems per month, Enpal is considered the fastest-growing energy company in Germany (FT1000 Ranking 2022 & 2023 Financial Times & Statista). The declared goal is to supply one million households with solar energy by the end of the decade, thereby becoming the largest renewable community in Europe.
Extensive Contract and Transport Services
To support Enpal in this goal, ID Logistics has been commissioned with organizing the complete supply chain of all products and systems. This includes PV systems since the start, and in the meantime, the product portfolio has been expanded to include heat pumps. Daily, ID Logistics receives up to 600 pallets at the logistics center (Inbound) and ships them to end customers (Outbound). The contract also includes transportation to Enpal customers from the warehouse to the construction site or the point of need (End-2-End) in the general cargo system.
Additionally, the companies announced at the official opening on October 27, 2023, that ID Logistics has also been mandated by Enpal with the central logistics for operating materials such as assembly materials and tools. The associated smart delivery concept will be handled, among other things, through parcel shipping (CEP service providers) and will start in the first quarter of 2024.
To provide all services, ID Logistics quickly selected a regionally and qualitatively suitable logistics property that was available on short notice and commenced operations in Philippsburg in March 2023. Just a week later, the first inbound and outbound deliveries to the assembly teams took place. In addition to the rapid initiation of logistics service and transport services, ID Logistics quickly hired and further trained employees, implemented a powerful IT and technology system, and built the organization, involving a service provider for the transportation of products.
Managing Growth and Product Diversity
Today, ID Logistics’ biggest challenge in Philippsburg is, first, to precisely manage the rapid growth of the number of regenerative systems from end consumers and companies in the distribution center. Second, it is about integrating the continuously growing variety of Enpal products into logistics activities.
“The world is changing every day – this is also reflected daily in the supply of end customers and companies with products through precise logistics services. ID Logistics meets the challenges of these rapidly growing markets through a high qualification of employees both on-site and at our headquarters in Griesheim, by quickly achieving robust systems and processes even in new industries, and by maintaining a high flexibility in integrating additional products and services. A high adaptability, combined with a willingness to invest, is required,” said Robin Otto, CEO of ID Logistics Germany. “We thank our customer Enpal for the trust placed in us, our employees for their tremendous commitment, and the city of Philippsburg and its citizens for the warm welcome as a new neighbor,” Robin Otto continued.
“The commissioning of the central logistics hub in Philippsburg is a crucial milestone on our path to accelerate the energy transition. In close collaboration with ID Logistics, we have created a state-of-the-art, sustainable infrastructure that not only enables the efficient distribution of our solar solutions and heat pumps but also provides a solid foundation for our continuous growth and the expansion of our offerings. By pooling our strengths with such an experienced and innovative logistics partner as ID Logistics, we are well positioned to optimize the supply chain and end-to-end service for our customers,” explained Steffen Reckert, Vice President Logistics at Enpal.
“Germany is geographically one of our target markets for future investments at the group level. ID Logistics Germany has developed into a strong logistics partner for renowned companies in the e-commerce, FMCG, and retail sectors over the past three years and now manages more than 500,000 square meters of space across nine large logistics locations. The current entry into the renewable energy sector with Enpal marks a new milestone for the group and is part of our success story. For the future, we see ID Logistics Germany very well equipped,” said Eric Hémar, founder and president of the ID Logistics Group.
