RS-Systems with First Transparent Reusable Load Securing System
28. November 2023Quiet and CO2-free: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Transport Europe GmbH (MTTE) is launching its new electric refrigeration unit TEK in Europe. The device, which was first presented at NUFAM, is part of the portfolio of innovative electric coolers. Mitsubishi has grouped these under the new brand name “Preciso.” The TEK is specifically designed for vans and light trucks in the LCV class.
(Osnabrück) “Our new refrigeration unit TEK is particularly suitable for distribution traffic in cities. Here, clean and quiet transport solutions without emissions are becoming increasingly important,” explains MTTE Sales Manager Christian Meyer. “In combination with electric vans or electric trucks, our new TEK enables 100 percent locally emission-free cooling logistics in distribution traffic.” Thanks to an additional battery, the cooling operation can also be maintained when the unit is turned off. In distribution traffic with many delivery stops, this helps to keep the desired temperature in the cargo area at the required level.
Powered by a 24-volt generator, the new unit impresses with compact dimensions while delivering a high cooling capacity of up to 4,000 watts at 0 degrees and up to 2,000 watts at minus 20 degrees Celsius. The heating capacity of up to 2,200 watts at minus 10 degrees Celsius is also remarkable. The TEK features a fully hermetic compressor with a completely closed refrigeration circuit that uses a very small amount of refrigerant. This eliminates the need for annual leak testing, saving maintenance effort and costs. Pre-cooling and battery charging at the depot are done via a 230-volt connection. Depending on the performance level, the TEK weighs between 185 and 230 kilograms. In the highest single-temperature performance level, the unit has an air output of up to 1,500 cubic meters per hour. In the multi-temperature variant, air output and weight vary depending on the evaporator and design.
The TEK, as part of the Preciso series, is an important component of Mitsubishi’s electrification strategy. “With our new electric refrigeration unit, we are helping to relieve urban delivery zones of noise and emissions together with our customers,” emphasizes Christian Meyer. During city tours with many door openings, the TEK guarantees energy-efficient cooling thanks to the additional battery: First, the power control operates independently of the engine speed.
Signal Given to Refrigeration Unit When Cargo Door is Opened
Secondly, when the cargo door is opened, a door contact switch sends a signal to turn off the refrigeration unit. After the goods have been removed and the driver closes the cargo door again, the refrigeration unit immediately resumes operation. This ensures that the cargo area remains at the desired temperature while the goods are delivered at each stop. This innovative system helps the user save energy and maintain the electric range of the vehicle. The simple handling on the go is complemented by a user-friendly, multilingual remote control for the TEK – with an LCD display and USB connection.
