project44 Highlights the Critical Situation at the Panama Canal
5. December 2023Effective December 31, 2023, Monique Hezel-Reyntjens will retire after nearly 42 years of responsible service at today’s BeKa HGK GmbH. In 1982, her parents, Franz Josef and Corrie Becker, founded the dry shipping company. From the beginning involved in chartering, over the years also as a partner and until recently as managing director, Monique Hezel-Reyntjens has been instrumental in the success of BeKa HGK.
The successor to Monique Hezel-Reyntjens will be Florian Bleikamp (34), who will take on the role of managing director of BeKa HGK GmbH in conjunction with his position as Head of Chartering at HGK Dry Shipping GmbH. The operational business will be led by Pascal Rodius (56), who has decades of experience in the industry and has closely accompanied the BeKa HGK team in his role as authorized signatory for the past year.
“I would like to sincerely thank my team and all customers, partners, and companions who have supported me over the many years. And last but not least, my husband Patrick, who was a significant part of our team for eleven years,” says Monique Hezel-Reyntjens. “With the transfer of all shares to HGK Shipping a year ago, we were able to secure the future viability and thus the continued existence of BeKa in the long term. I have been particularly convinced of this in the past twelve months of transition, and I am truly pleased. I wish Florian Bleikamp, Pascal Rodius, and the entire BeKa HGK team all the best and much success!”
“Monique Hezel-Reyntjens has made BeKa what it is today with a lot of heart and understanding. We thank her for the many years of partnership. Thanks to her experience, knowledge, and standing in the industry, we were able to successfully develop the company together,” says Steffen Bauer, CEO of HGK Shipping GmbH. He adds: “With Florian Bleikamp as the new managing director, Pascal Rodius as the operational responsible, and a proven team in Kehl, we will continue this course. At the same time, BeKa HGK will be further strengthened through the diverse collaboration within the HGK Shipping network.”
