9. January 2024Bridgestone and Webfleet significantly ease fleet management for electric vehicle fleets: Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, the business unit of Bridgestone focused on data-driven mobility solutions, which includes Europe’s number one fleet management solution Webfleet, announced today at the leading industry show CES® 2024 in Las Vegas the launch of the world’s first service platform for electric vehicles for fleet companies.
(Leipzig) With the service platform for electric vehicles, fleets are now able to intelligently manage the deployment of their electric vehicles based on comprehensive data – including information on energy management, battery and charging management, route planning, and fleet management – thereby increasing productivity. This significantly simplifies the major step towards electrification and decarbonization of their own fleet for companies with commercially used vehicles.
To provide the service platform for electric vehicles, Bridgestone and Webfleet are collaborating with leading global mobility service providers, including TomTom, Simacan, The Mobility House, and Bia Power.
“This has resulted in a unique ecosystem where solutions for various needs around the management of electric mobility are consolidated on a single platform,” says Wolfgang Schmid, Webfleet Head of Central Region. “The system enables seamless integration of the solutions from these service providers based on comprehensive fleet and energy data. Webfleet provides the relevant vehicle data, on the basis of which the connected partners offer their services. As a result, fleet companies are now able to shape the electrification of their fleet based on this comprehensive data from a single system.”
Significant Data from Various Providers’ Systems
Schmid continued: “The world’s first integrated service platform for commercially used electric vehicles paves the way for fleet companies towards the decarbonization of their mobility. By integrating significant data from various providers’ systems, we generate a whole new benefit for fleet companies. For example, a fleet manager can retrieve information about the range of their vehicles to assign the most suitable vehicle for a specific task. To select which vehicle should be charged at what time based on the required battery level and the tour plan, this data can then be cross-referenced with the information on charging management.”
The new solution consolidates its services into six key pillars, making it easier for customers to choose the ideal combination for their specific needs in the field of electric mobility. Fleet customers can seamlessly exchange data between all connected providers to optimize the operation of electric fleets.
Users Retain Full Control Over Their Data
Users always retain full control over their own data and decide which data to share, when, and how:
- Hardware and Software for Charging Management: Provision of charging infrastructure according to their own requirements and needs. Monitoring and analysis of the performance of the company’s own charging stations.
- Smart Charging: Reducing costs by avoiding peak loads and high electricity prices, as well as lowering emissions by using renewable energy sources.
- Energy Management: Expert advice on the company’s energy infrastructure and for efficient energy management for vehicles and buildings.
- Battery Analysis: Increased safety and reliability in the fleet through alerts for battery issues. Higher residual value of vehicles with reports on battery condition (health).
- Planning: Planning and optimizing orders for a fleet of electric vehicles considering energy, charging, battery, and route constraints.
- Fleet Management: Reliable and productive operation of the e-fleet based on real-time vehicle data and information on driving behavior and energy consumption.
“Many fleet companies want to move towards electric mobility. However, the step towards electrification is associated with many questions, including the level of investment, the potential maintenance of reliable operations, and the optimization of their company’s productivity. These questions can only be answered and resolved when various solution providers in the mobility sector collaborate and consolidate relevant data. Specifically, providers specializing in electric mobility are striving to establish scalable integration to address the challenges of fleet customers,” adds Wolfgang Schmid.
