TFG Transfracht integrates Duisburg and Kreuztal into the network
Jan 21, 2024 at 7:10 PMThe Austrian Post has launched new self-service devices (SB) in Linz. Among them is the first location at Anastasius-Grün-Straße 5, where an old phone booth has been removed and a new post station has been established. Here, packages and registered or oversized letters can be picked up around the clock.
(Wien/Linz) Representing the new Linz post stations, this location was ceremoniously opened today by Klaus Luger, Mayor of Linz, and Walter Oblin, Deputy General Director, Board Member for Mail & Finance, Austrian Post AG.
“The massive expansion with 100 additional self-service stations by the Post represents an important service for the citizens. It can also facilitate the workflow for employees of companies, as packages can be dropped off at closer stations. I am pleased that the Post is starting this initiative and is rapidly advancing the expansion. Additionally, the infrastructure of old phone booths is being used sustainably,” said Klaus Luger, Mayor of Linz.
“As the Post, we want to be even closer to our customers in urban areas – we achieve this by significantly densifying our SB network. With more compact SB devices, we can optimally cover individual districts and larger residential complexes and offer package pickups or returns around the clock,” explains Walter Oblin, Deputy General Director, Board Member for Mail & Finance, Austrian Post AG.
About 100 Additional Post Stations Planned for Linz
Just in November, the Post launched 16 new SB locations in the Lower Austrian district of Gänserndorf to test the densification of the SB network in rural areas. The new post stations in Linz now serve for the first time to densify in urban areas.
In the capital of Upper Austria, there are now 31 post locations: eight post offices, seven post partners, and 16 standalone post stations. Overall, the Post plans to establish around 100 additional post stations in the Linz area in 2024 and 2025.
The compact post stations allow for the pickup of packages and registered or oversized letter shipments around the clock. Shipments can also be redirected directly there via the Post App if desired. Prepaid packages with return labels or package stamps can also be dropped off at the post stations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Largest Smart Locker Network in Austria
The densification of the SB network and the takeover of around 1,000 A1 phone booths across Austria was announced last year. With over 575 SB pickup stations, 113,731 SB pickup lockers, 561 SB shipping stations and shipping boxes, as well as 73,443 post reception boxes, the Austrian Post already operates the largest smart locker network in the country today.
