5. March 2024Siemens Energy relies on the intelligent transport control system SYNCROTESS from the Aachen optimization specialist INFORM. The globally leading energy technology company is implementing the system at its Mülheim location and upgrading it at its Berlin site to the latest product version to create more transparency and save resources. The software for internal transport has been successfully in use since 2013 at the corporate headquarters in Berlin.
(Mülheim/Aachen) As a global leader in energy technology, Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG offers products such as gas and steam turbines, generators, transformers, and compressors. To make the necessary plant transports for production more transparent and efficient, the intelligent transport control system SYNCROTESS has been in use since 2013 at the corporate headquarters in Berlin. The software supports the central control and optimization of all logistical processes in plant traffic. With the introduction at the Mülheim location, an upgrade to SYNCROTESS Enterprise version 10 is also planned for Berlin, along with the transition from in-house hosting (on-premise) to the INFORM Cloud. The latest version allows the company to retain proven functionalities from the previous version while also benefiting from new, expanded capabilities.
A Central System for Both Locations
“The advantage of the upgrade is that the new version can be used in the cloud and is therefore multi-tenant capable,” explains Hiltrud Kliesch-Jungbauer, Product and Business Development Manager for Industrial Logistics at INFORM. “We serve both locations, Berlin and Mülheim, with the same server and the same database. However, they operate with location-specific master and runtime data. This configuration allows the transport control system to be operated on a common system for both locations.” The implementation of the new software at the Mülheim location is planned for the end of the second quarter of 2024.
In the past, internal transports at Siemens Energy at the Mülheim location were managed purely manually. “The decision for INFORM was based on the positive experiences of our long-standing collaboration,” says Florian Karla, Logistics Technics Manager at Siemens Energy. “With the upgrade to the latest product version for the Berlin location and the introduction at the Mülheim site, we can further increase the transparency and efficiency of our intralogistics processes.”
