March 2024The technology company Körber is building a fully automated high-bay warehouse and a fully automated small parts warehouse for Daimler Truck, one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers. Körber is responsible for the state-of-the-art technological centerpiece of the new Global Parts Center, which the commercial vehicle manufacturer is constructing for its global spare parts supply at the Halberstadt (Saxony-Anhalt) location. The phased commissioning will begin in 2025.
(Bad Nauheim/Halberstadt) Körber was able to convince with its holistic, integrative concept in this complex large-scale project. In addition to the two fully automated high-tech warehouse systems, Körber is also responsible for the building services in the high-bay warehouse as well as the silo rack system including roof and wall cladding. This enables the end-to-end technology expert to create a powerful infrastructure that allows the commercial vehicle manufacturer to reliably, quickly, comprehensively, and efficiently supply its customers worldwide with spare parts – from the smallest screw to the finished truck cabin.
Up to 300,000 Different Items
In the Global Parts Center, up to 300,000 different items will be stored in the future, which can be delivered to nearly 3,000 vehicle dealers in over 170 countries around the world. “We are very pleased to be able to implement this significant logistics project together with our customer. A flexible, efficient, and sustainable spare parts logistics is an important success factor. We were able to convince our customer of our expertise that we can also design supply chains on a global scale in such a way that they become a competitive advantage,” says Mark Vogt, Director Sales & Marketing, Automation, Körber Supply Chain.
General Contractor and System Integrator
Körber acts as the general contractor and system integrator for logistics at the two fully automated high-tech warehouses and also brings the material flow control using SAP EWM MFS. In the small parts warehouse, an AutoStore system from Körber, supplied by the partner Element Logic, will be integrated.
