Körber Builds Fully Automated Warehouse for Daimler Truck
Mar 12, 2024 at 7:23 PMFollowing the successful collaboration in Unna, the European photovoltaic company Sunrock is equipping additional logistics properties of Panattoni in Germany with PV system solutions. Solar power plants with a capacity of 6,774 kWp are being installed on the roofs of projects in Düren, Schwäbisch Gmünd, and Großbeeren. Further projects are in planning.
(Hamburg) Sunrock was founded in 2012 and is one of the largest investors, developers, and owners of photovoltaic rooftop systems in Europe, with an area of 5 million m². After joint projects in the Netherlands and in North Rhine-Westphalia’s Unna in Germany, as well as further future projects in France, the company is now realizing additional installations in Germany for Panattoni. The properties in Düren, Schwäbisch Gmünd, and Großbeeren can thus be operated energy-autonomously. The surplus will be fed into the grid. In total, the new systems can generate up to 6,774 kWp of electricity per year for 2,000 two-person households.
Generating Electricity on Your Own Roof is Worthwhile
Sunrock leases the areas from Panattoni and takes care of the entire development, financing, realization, and management of the solar projects. The fact that Panattoni is promoting the equipping of building roofs with photovoltaic systems has several reasons, explains Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Germany and Austria: “The current price developments in the electricity market do not stop at our users. Generating electricity on your own roof is worthwhile to become independent from these developments. Additionally, many companies have set in their ESG criteria to increase the share of renewable energies in their energy mix.”
Hugo Willink, Executive Director Development Sunrock comments: “The partnership between Sunrock and Panattoni makes an active contribution to one of the most important challenges of our time: the transition to a future with clean energy production. Our joint efforts in developing solar rooftop projects lead to net-zero operations for tenants and align with the ESG requirements of the commercial and industrial real estate sector.”
Solar Technology is a Crucial Pillar
Panattoni has also set itself the goal of developing climate-neutral properties in the future as part of its “Go Earthwise” strategy. Solar technology is a crucial pillar on the way there. “We want to maximize the use of Panattoni roofs for the generation of green energy through solar panels. The projects with Sunrock are another milestone we have achieved,” says Fred-Markus Bohne. Further joint projects are already in planning.
