21. March 2024The international transport and logistics service provider DSV will open a new location in Neustadt near Coburg in Franconia. DSV is now renting a property of 40,000 square meters, which will complement the network for supplying the markets of dm-drogerie markt starting in summer 2024. From July 2024, drugstore items will be stored and distributed nationwide.
(Bremen/Neustadt near Coburg) The DSV location in Neustadt near Coburg ideally complements the existing locations on the logistics map for its partner dm-drogerie markt. “Neustadt is a sensibly located addition: From here, we can easily reach the 41 local transshipment centers for nationwide supply to the dm markets,” says Rolf Wetzel, Senior Director, Retail Distribution & Services at DSV. “This allows us to distribute additional quantities to the dm markets and also support the region around Neustadt in its growth,” Wetzel continues. The company expects around 100 to 120 truck movements per day at the Neustadt location. The first goods receipt is planned for early July.
Ideal Addition on the Map

Christian Bodi, Managing Director of Logistics at dm-drogerie markt adds: “Our organic growth with now over 2,100 dm markets in Germany necessitates new logistical capacities to reliably and sustainably supply our dm markets with drugstore items. We are proud of the professional and trust-oriented cooperation with DSV, the property developer GLP, and the city of Neustadt near Coburg. The good collaboration enables us to integrate the Neustadt location into our network with a relatively short lead time,” says Bodi.
The Mayor of Neustadt near Coburg, Frank Rebhan, welcomes the settlement: “After company closures and bankruptcies have burdened the region in recent months, this new settlement is highly welcome. With DSV, we welcome an international company to Neustadt, which will strengthen the city and district, not least through the numerous jobs that will be created. I warmly welcome DSV to our community and wish the company much success.”
350 New Jobs Created
From now until summer 2024, the Danish logistics company will fill 350 positions in the commercial and administrative areas at the new location. DSV offers new colleagues many opportunities – including as shift or team leaders for warehouse logistics, branch managers, or clerks. “Here, work will be done in 2- and 3-shift operations with a working time of 37.5 hours per week,” says Thomas Lange, Director and Area Manager at DSV. “We are excited to offer numerous new employees an exciting career perspective.”
6,000 Employees at 72 Locations
DSV has around 6,000 employees at currently 72 locations in Germany. Currently, DSV handles the transport to the more than 2,100 dm markets nationwide from the distribution centers operated by dm-drogerie markt and DSV. On an average day, more than 15,000 pallets are dispatched nationwide from the locations in over 800 trucks.
DSV and dm have a 37-year partnership characterized by a shared willingness to innovate. In 2021, DSV and dm jointly signed a letter of intent to further promote innovative and sustainable projects. Together, the two partner companies continuously develop sustainable solutions within the logistical supply chains.
Sustainability in Focus
“We are pleased to have found a renowned tenant for the new development of the modern and energy-efficient logistics center in Neustadt near Coburg even during the construction phase,” says Michael Gerke, Head of Development Germany at the logistics real estate developer GLP. The logistics center, which covers around 40,000 square meters, will be handed over to DSV in early May 2024 and will feature a variety of sustainability measures. The installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof is planned, the building will be heated with an air-to-air heat pump, 18 electric car charging stations will be set up, and the building will be equipped with LED lighting.
