NOSTA Group Opens New Branch in Bucharest
Apr 11, 2024 at 12:55 PMThe logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is establishing a central location for IT and logistics near the Wolfurt freight station, securing local jobs: A high-bay warehouse with an attached office building for around 350 employees is being built on a plot of approximately 30,000 square meters. Completion is planned for the end of 2025.
(Lauterach/Wolfurt) The municipality of Wolfurt has approved the construction of the planned IT and logistics center of Gebrüder Weiss in the Wolfurt industrial area. The decision was made during the municipal council meeting on April 9. “I am pleased that we now have all the necessary permits, so nothing stands in the way of starting the project,” explains Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Management Board of Gebrüder Weiss, and adds: “The state-of-the-art IT and logistics location will be ideal for our employees and customers: On the one hand, our IT teams will be closer together, and on the other hand, thanks to the immediate proximity to the Wolfurt freight station, we can combine traffic more efficiently, shift it to rail, and shorten transport routes. For our customers, this means greater supply security regarding materials and goods, which will also have a positive impact on other businesses in Vorarlberg and the region.”
Further Jobs Planned in Wolfurt
A high-bay warehouse and a manual warehouse with an attached office building for the logistics company’s IT department are being built on a plot of approximately 30,000 square meters on Senderstraße in Wolfurt. The zoning plans of the municipality were already approved on January 24 during the Wolfurt municipal council meeting. “The IT and logistics location of Gebrüder Weiss is of great importance for the development of the Hohe Brücke industrial area. This settlement will create additional high-quality jobs in the municipality of Wolfurt. The proximity to the freight station is, of course, ideal for this,” emphasizes Mayor Angelika Moosbrugger.
“Currently, our IT teams are located in Kennelbach. However, both there and in Lauterach, the capacities are exhausted, which is why we want to create a location that offers long-term growth potential. After the move, around 300 employees will be employed in IT and around 50 in logistics. We are planning and building for the future, which is why we are already providing space for additional jobs,” explains Stefan Oberhauser, Branch Manager Land & Logistics Vorarlberg at Gebrüder Weiss.
Existing Space to be Used Twice
To make the best use of land resources, the building is to be constructed in a compact design: A building complex will be a total of 25 meters high. It consists of a 4,500 square meter logistics warehouse, on top of which a three-story office building is planned. This way, the existing space can be used twice. In addition, a 34-meter high high-bay warehouse will be built, providing space for 68,000 pallet spaces. In terms of sustainable building planning, a photovoltaic system, a green roof, and charging stations for electric trucks and cars are planned. The logistics company also refrains from large parking lots and instead focuses on incentives for the use of public transport.
Securing the Vorarlberg Location
“Despite the currently tense economic situation, we are investing in the country to secure our business activities for the future – in logistics, we feel economic downturns as one of the first industries. This investment is possible because we have operated sustainably and are therefore a healthy company,” emphasizes Wolfram Senger-Weiss. The nearby train connection was crucial for the choice of location. The project is to be completed by the end of 2025.
