Arvato Acquires Avon Logistics Site in Corby
2. May 2024Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R) GmbH & Co. KG is an international leading developer, manufacturer, and provider of healthcare products. The L&R branch in Neuwied, Germany, has commissioned Element Logic to design and implement an AutoStore system for the Austrian company location in Schönau near Vienna.
(Bad Friedrichshall/Schönau) This project is already the second AutoStore project that Element Logic is carrying out for the L&R group after the successful commissioning of an AutoStore system at L&R in Neuwied at the end of 2020. By integrating the system and optimizing intralogistics through more effective and spatially efficient storage of production and consumable materials at the Schönau location, L&R is responding to the continuously positive business development.
For the Austrian company location, Element Logic is implementing an AutoStore system with 5,200 container storage locations. In the shafts of the aluminum grid of the system, up to 16 containers can be stored on top of each other. Six R5 robots handle the inbound, internal, and outbound storage on the rails above the grid. They serve two picking stations designed as carousel ports for quick container changes during picking. “The system is designed so that one carousel port is used for incoming goods and one carousel port for outgoing goods,” explains Gerhard Hinteregger, Manager of Subsidiary Element Logic Austria Sales. “This allows us to achieve the required performance of 105 picks per hour for outgoing goods and 35 picks per hour for incoming goods.”
Overhang Platform for Optimal Space Utilization
To ensure transparency and maximum efficiency around the AutoStore system, as well as its optimal integration into the warehouse management system at L&R, the warehouse software eManager from Element Logic is used. “It is the information portal and conductor in and around the AutoStore,” says Hinteregger. An additional feature: To optimize space utilization, the system was designed with an overhang platform. “This way, the space above the ports could also be maximally utilized for container storage,” summarizes Hinteregger. “In light of further business growth at L&R, the system is also already prepared for a simple expansion with an additional port. This provides the AutoStore system in Schönau with high scalability and long-term investment security.” The handover and successful commissioning of the AutoStore system is scheduled for April 2024.
