German Customs Processes 413 Million Shipments
May 3, 2024 at 3:45 PMWith Pick8ship All-in-ONE, the Zurich startup is ushering in a fast, efficient, and flexible era of E-commerce logistics automation. The new logistics system automates fulfillment and delivery and consists of a container system, handling robots, powerful software, and artificial intelligence (AI).
(Zurich) Through its proprietary container system and multifunctional handling robots, Pick8ship enables a quantum leap in efficiency and sustainability compared to manual systems: up to five times higher density in the warehouse, optimized processes, and a six to tenfold increase in picking performance. According to Pick8ship Technology AG, the system it has developed reduces the operating costs of conventional logistics systems by up to 70 percent. In terms of sustainability, Pick8ship also impresses with new opportunities to save packaging materials, the use of reusable systems, and a reduction in the kilometers traveled on the last mile.
Solutions from Pick8ship Technology AG
Pick8ship.ai Infinity Suite:
The heart of the system is the software. The Pick8ship.ai Infinity Suite optimizes warehouse and picking processes in real-time. The AI-supported system learns and dynamically optimizes the warehouse for high density, productivity, short distances, and other target metrics. For example, items that are frequently purchased together are stored in the most efficient way. The processing of products with expiration dates and picking with visual assistance (pick-by-light) is also made faster and safer. Furthermore, the Pick8ship.ai Infinity Suite adapts agilely to the business requirements of customers.
Smart-Container:
The newly designed container system allows for flexible, high-density storage of variously sized products, either in small batches or large trade units. The Smart Containers are used not only for transport and goods receipt but can also automate processes in goods dispatch up to the customers, in conjunction with the robotic technology.
Handling Robots:
Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and camera technology, the handling robots take over the fully automated loading and unloading of load carriers. The robots are available in various designs and allow working heights from two to four meters. With impressive precision, the autonomous robot moves quickly and safely between the shelves and the workstations where goods are stored and orders are assembled. “Each robot currently brings 40 to 80 different products to a workstation in the warehouse simultaneously per trip. And this within minutes,” explains Dr. Josef Haid, founder of Pick8ship.
All-in-ONE:
Pick8ship All-in-ONE can be used universally. The modular and scalable structure allows for the quick setup of individual modules or entire systems, or expansion by simply adding containers and robots. Likewise, a system can be reduced or relocated to another site within days. Even with changes in the product mix, the system can handle itself autonomously (within the 400x600x40 to 800mm grid). Whether package, bag, or reusable bag, whether with the package network or directly in the Smart Container, whether manual or automated picking, the Pick8ship workstation and the software are already prepared for various systems. Thanks to the significant cost savings, the system enables a rapid amortization of the investment, typically within three to four years.
Simulation in the Fulfillment Test Center
To optimally exploit the potential of Pick8ship in the individual circumstances and requirements of customers, Pick8ship develops specific software and simulation tools. This allows the company to offer interested parties a tailored concept for a Pick8ship All-in-ONE solution, including configuration, visualization, and case study, in the shortest possible time. This way, the concept can be detailed and simulated before it is implemented on-site and tested and optimized in its own fulfillment test center. Most of Pick8ship’s customers have sent a selection of their products in advance to test the system with their own requirements. In this way, many questions that would otherwise only arise during implementation can be identified and resolved during the concept phase.
