14. May 2024The world’s leading provider of automation solutions and software for warehouses and distribution centers, Dematic, has equipped the world-leading transport and logistics service provider GEODIS S.A. with an AutoStore™ system.
(Heusenstamm/Moulins) The logistics company, headquartered on the outskirts of Paris, entrusted Dematic with the installation of a stand-alone system for its customer Nexter S. A., which is now part of the KNDS group. Nexter is one of the leading European manufacturers of military land systems based in Germany and France. The Dematic solution was installed in a fully automated warehouse in Moulins, France.
For this new automated facility, Dematic delivered an AutoStore™ system with 12,500 bins, four R5 robots, and two conveyor ports, which were installed in the 22,000 square meter warehouse. The developer and integrator of land defense systems, Nexter, plans to use the warehouse for maintenance and service operations and can store around 32,000 items on-site.
“The Dematic solution has proven to be extremely robust and has fully met our expectations regarding efficient use of our space. It supports the expansion of Nexter’s activities within KNDS, which aim to keep land equipment in a ready-to-use state,” explains Thierry Schnepp, Director of Business Competence at GEODIS.
Three-Tier Value Chain
Alain Bussod, Head of Dematic France, explains: “By integrating automated and robotic devices, we are fully supporting GEODIS’s growth strategy. We can also demonstrate our expertise in providing tailored solutions that meet the demands and challenges of modern logistics. At the same time, we are building a three-tier value chain based on positive customer experience and mutual trust. This clearly opens the door for new collaboration.” The new system is operated by GEODIS’s own warehouse management software, Altesse.
