25. May 2024The Serbian terminal operator and provider of combined transport MBOX Terminals DOO and the Frankfurt-based Kombiverkehr KG are now cooperating on the connection between Niš in Serbia and Wels in Austria. The greatest advantage of the terminal in Niš is its geographical location, as MBOX is located precisely at the intersection of all railway lines from the east and south towards Western Europe.
(Frankfurt/Niš/Wels) “With the integration of the terminal in Niš into our European network, we are expanding our transport services to and from Serbia while simultaneously repositioning ourselves for network expansion into other Southeast European countries. The central location of Niš in the heart of Serbia for road-based pre- and post-haulage, as well as its direct position on the pan-European transport corridor 10, are essential advantages that we want to leverage for our customers and their intermodal transports,” says Susana Jozinovic, Sales Representative Southeastern Europe at Kombiverkehr KG. “When selecting a cooperation partner, the extensive network of Kombiverkehr is one of the decisive criteria that allows us to make the existing connection in continuous traffic even more attractive. Both cooperation partners thus combine their strengths and offer new rail-based and, above all, climate-friendly transport solutions that are becoming increasingly important in cross-border freight transport,” says Dejan Nikolic, Director of MBOX Terminals.
Three times a week in both directions
Train departures are scheduled for Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from Wels and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays from Niš. Kombiverkehr KG offers direct trains from the hub terminal Wels to Duisburg Ruhrort Hafen, Munich-Riem, and Ludwigshafen. From there, there are numerous national and international connections, for example to Hamburg, Hanover, Leipzig, the German Baltic Sea ports of Lübeck and Kiel, as well as to and from Spain, France, Benelux, the United Kingdom, and Scandinavia. Forwarders can book their shipments in the customer portal of Kombiverkehr KG or via the data hub KV4.0. All hazardous goods can be transported except for classes 1 and 7. If necessary, MBOX handles the customs clearance of goods as well as the road-based pre- and post-haulage within Serbia and across national borders.
MBOX Terminal in Niš, Serbia, is an intermodal terminal located in Popovac, in the new industrial area of the city of Niš. With two branches in Belgrade and Niš, the company MBOX TERMINALS DOO was established with the aim of operating and developing the only terminal of its kind in the southern and central part of Serbia in a neutral manner.
The greatest advantage of the terminal is its geographical location, as MBOX is located precisely at the intersection of all railway lines from the east and south towards Western Europe. With this location, the terminal is the perfect place to become an important HUB/Gateway terminal for the Balkans along with Turkish and Greek freight in connection with Western and Central Europe.
Regular connections with the seaports of the region
MBOX has a regular intermodal connection with all major seaports in the region. MBOX has industrial tracks with a total length of 1,200 meters and a shunting vehicle for easy and quick shunting of wagons. It is located next to the main marshalling yard in Niš, which provides sufficient capacity and easy and quick access for intermodal trains. The terminal has a storage capacity of more than 2,700 containers, which corresponds to about 50,000 TEU per year.
